Make reading a daily habit, and remember the books you've read. Reading Memory keeps every book you read and every line you write, one book at a time, on your own bookshelf. You want to read more, but it never sticks. You finish a book, then can't recall what was in it. The books you bought sit on a pile, unread. Reading Memory is made for that. MAKE READING A DAILY HABIT On days you read, tap "Read today" once. Even a day with one page counts. Your reading days fill a calendar, and your streak and the number of books you finished this year go up. You can also tap from Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. NEVER FORGET WHAT YOU READ Notes you write while reading show up on your bookshelf a few days later, with how long ago you wrote them ("written 72 days ago"). Read them again and add a line right there. When you reread a book, the notes from your last read are on that book's page. FINISH YOUR TO-READ PILE, ONE BOOK AT A TIME Books you own but haven't started sit in a pile at the bottom of your bookshelf. Tap the pile to start the top book. When you finish one, the app picks the next book from your pile. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No social feed, no followers, no public reviews. Only you can read what you write. โ WHAT YOU CAN DO โ Bookshelf Finished books stand on a shelf for each year. Books you're reading lie face up, and books you haven't started are stacked. You can also add the books you've already read, one after another. โ Add books Search by title or scan the barcode. Book data comes from Google Books, Open Library, openBD, and Rakuten Books. There is no limit on how many books you can add. โ Sticky notes for novels Write about characters, lines you loved, and how you felt on sticky notes, and stick them at the page you're on. Move the bookmark to record your page and "Read today". โ A notebook for nonfiction Write the book's words and your own thoughts with page numbers. Snap a page to read its text and add the lines you pick as the book's words. Vertical Japanese text works too. Export your notebook as text. โ A reading card when you finish Give stars, write one line, and stamp the card. It goes into that year's card box. Save or send the card as an image. โ Reading log and badges See your reading days on a calendar, your streak, and how many books you finished. Earn badges at milestones. โ Want-to-read list Note who recommended a book or where you saw it. โ iPad Works on iPad, in portrait, landscape, and Split View. โ MEMORY PLUS (auto-renewable subscription) Adding books, sticky notes, notebooks, reading text from pages, reading cards and stamps, the calendar, and widgets are free for good. Memory Plus adds: โ Turn the lines you picked from a page into key points (uses AI) โ Look up a word from your notebook across all your books (free shows the number of books and the first line) โ Your year in books: everything you read and wrote in a year, in one place โ Detailed statistics: books finished per month, genres, ratings, and how books made you feel โ Summaries of the notes you wrote (uses AI) Pricing in the US: $39.99 per year / $3.99 per month. Prices vary by region. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the same price and period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Snap a cover. Make it part of your bookshelf. honn is a book tracker and reading log that adds books from photos, sorts them into To Read, Finished and Wishlist, and keeps completion dates, reviews and passing thoughts with each book. Spend less time typing titles and start with the books in your hands: novels, non-fiction, textbooks, picture books, manga, comics and magazines. โ Add books from a photo Take a photo of a cover and AI reads the title, volume, author, publisher, page count and publication date. Check the result, fix anything you need, and save. You can also use images from Photos or shared from other apps. A photo of a shelf or a stack can add several books at once, read from the spines. Handy when moving house or cataloging a home library. An optional setting checks readings against a web search, and you choose per book whether to save the search result or what was read from the photo. Books without a barcode, old editions and imported books can be added if the cover or spine is in the photo, or you can type the title and author. Photos that could not be read wait On Hold so you can analyze them again later. โ Share from your browser Share a book page from your browser or a bookstore app to honn, and it reads the title and author from the page. Add it to your Wishlist and use it at the bookstore or library. โ Spot duplicates before you add honn checks whether a similar book is already on your shelf, so you avoid buying the same book twice and can see which volumes of a series you own. โ Organize your shelf Books go into To Read (your TBR pile), Finished, or Wishlist (to buy or borrow). Switch between a grid of covers and a list, and sort by date added or date finished. Search by title, author or publisher, and narrow by category or author. โ Reading journal and notes Save a completion date and a reading note for each book: your review, a favorite passage, what you learned. While you read, jot thoughts into Notes to Self, a chat-style log for each book. A page number and a line is enough; later you can follow how your thinking moved. Notes and Notes to Self support voice input, so you can record without putting the book down. Edit details any time, including the category and cover image, or check a saved book against a web search to update it. โ Reading statistics See books finished each month by year, with your monthly average and yearly total. Check your library size, completion rate, the authors and categories you own most, and the book waiting longest on your pile. โ Home Screen widget A widget shows the covers of your To Read books in turn, a reminder of what to read next. โ No account, iCloud sync No sign-up or login. Turn on iCloud to sync your library across devices on the same Apple Account. Works on iPhone and iPad. All text follows your device's text size setting. โ Made for you if - Your TBR pile keeps growing and you have lost track of what you own - Reading logs in a notebook or spreadsheet never last - You want to keep reviews for every book you finish - You want to stop buying duplicates - You collect manga or comic series โ FAQ Q. Does it scan barcodes? A. No. AI reads photos of covers and spines, so books without a barcode work too. Q. What if something is read wrong? A. Fix it before saving, or edit the book later. Q. Tips for many books in one photo? A. Keep the spines sharp and choose high resolution and the Accuracy model in the analysis settings. Q. What if I reach the analysis limit? A. It resets next month. You can still add books by typing. โ Pricing Core features are free. AI photo analysis has a monthly limit. A paid plan raises the limit and removes ads. Start with the cover of a book you have nearby.

Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Reading Memory at none against honn's shown. honn's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (18.0 vs 26.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
