OBD Tally

Features

OBD Tally is a customisable OBD-II dashboard, data logger, and vehicle diagnostics companion created by a Ford Everest V6 owner for personal use—and shared in the hope that other drivers and enthusiasts find it useful too. You can use the inbuilt prompt generator to create profiles for other vehicles too. The app was built for and tested with the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ scanner. It may also work with other ELM327-compatible Bluetooth Low Energy OBD-II adapters, but compatibility cannot be guaranteed across every vehicle, adapter, or ECU. Connect to your vehicle to view live sensor data, build personalised dashboards, monitor important values, investigate diagnostic trouble codes, and record driving sessions for later review. Make the dashboard your own OBD Tally gives you extensive control over how each PID is presented. You can: • Create multiple dashboard pages for different driving or diagnostic situations. • Choose from gauges, graphs, bars, numeric readouts, temperature displays, and status indicators. • Configure display names, units, ranges, colours, warning levels, and critical thresholds. • Add low-value alerts for parameters such as fuel level or pressure. • Apply value smoothing to reduce noisy readings. • Replace numerical values with custom labels—for example, displaying transmission positions instead of raw ECU values. • Choose compact or expanded tile layouts. Standard, custom, and vehicle-specific PIDs The app includes standard OBD-II parameters and supports custom and imported manufacturer-specific PIDs. A default profile for the Ford Everest V6 3.0L is included as a starting point. Because manufacturer-specific data can vary by model, year, engine, ECU calibration, and market, users should review and validate imported PID definitions against their own vehicle. For other vehicles, OBD Tally includes an AI prompt generator that prepares a detailed prompt for creating a vehicle-specific CSV template. Copy the prompt into your preferred AI assistant, review the generated definitions, and import the resulting CSV file into the app. Profiles and individual PIDs can then be edited to suit your vehicle. Record and review your drives Record selected vehicle data during a trip and return to it later with: • Interactive charts and sparklines. • Route and location information when location recording is enabled. • Trip summaries and individual data-point inspection. • Configurable recording intervals and PID selection. • Session archiving, backup, restore, and optional iCloud synchronisation. Alerts, diagnostics, and CarPlay Create configurable alert rules for the values you care about and see warning or critical conditions directly on your dashboard. OBD Tally can also read and present diagnostic trouble codes reported by the vehicle. CarPlay support provides a simplified view of selected live data, alerts, connection status, and recording controls where supported. Built by an enthusiast OBD Tally is not presented as professional workshop software, a certified diagnostic platform, or a replacement for qualified mechanical advice. It began as a personal project for monitoring and understanding a Ford Everest V6, with an emphasis on flexibility, experimentation, and letting each user decide how their vehicle data should be displayed. OBD-II values—particularly manufacturer-specific PIDs and calculated results—may be incomplete, unsupported, or inaccurate depending on the vehicle and adapter. Always validate important readings independently, and never configure or operate the app while driving. If you enjoy exploring vehicle data and building a dashboard tailored to your own needs, OBD Tally gives you the tools to make it yours.
