EpicDraft
Read full descriptionHide full description
EpicDraft is a screenwriting app for writing, formatting and organizing screenplays. It handles industry-standard Fountain, Final Draft and PDF formats, keeps scenes, characters and locations linked to the script, and works offline. Write anywhere. The same screenplay on your phone, your tablet, your computer, or in any web browser. Start a scene on the bus and finish it at your desk. Formatting that stays out of the way. Industry-standard screenplay formatting, applied as you type. Autocomplete for characters and locations, keyboard shortcuts for every element, and a distraction-free mode for when you want the page and nothing else. A Library beside the script. Your project's wiki: loglines, synopses, treatments, characters, locations, storyboards and scenes in the same place as the screenplay instead of in another app, each one linked to the pages it appears on. Character and location pages grow into full sheets with reference lookbooks, and storyboard panels anchor to the scenes they belong to. Import and export. Open Fountain, Final Draft and PDF files, including scanned PDFs through built-in OCR. Export and print watermark-free PDF and Final Draft files. Coverage, built in. When a draft is ready for notes, EpicDraft Pro lets you share a secure read-only link and collect script coverage: structured, page-by-page feedback from your readers, gathered into one dashboard. Readers open the script in their browser and review it free, without installing anything. Real-time collaboration, per-script roles and team chat keep a whole writers room on the same pages. A full AI toolkit, on your terms. EpicDraft Pro adds a writing assistant for chat, research, loglines and in-place rewrites that knows your whole story, plus image generation for storyboards and concept art. Turn it loose on the whole project for an autonomous coverage report or consistency check. It runs on local models by default, so your pages never leave your machine. Bring your own account with a hosted model provider only if you choose, and give the assistant extra tools by plugging in your own MCP servers. Your files, on your hardware. Screenplays are stored locally by default and are never mined or used to train AI models. Cloud sync is there when you want it and stays switched off until you turn it on, and Pro can keep your own devices in sync peer to peer, with no cloud in between. Free to use. The editor, unlimited screenplays, import and export, 29 interface languages and every platform are free, with no watermarks and no quotas. EpicDraft Pro adds the AI writing assistant and image generation, script coverage reports, device sync, real-time collaboration, team chat, file history with restorable checkpoints, and file encryption.
Script Pilot

Script Pilot formats the page while you type, so a screenplay looks like a screenplay from the first line and you never touch a margin again. FORMATTING ON AUTOPILOT Type INT. and the line becomes a scene heading. Type a name in caps and it becomes a character cue; press return and you are in dialogue. Tab cycles all eight elements, and the app handles every indent, every margin, every convention a reader expects. TRUE PAGES Real 8.5 x 11 sheets on screen, numbered and broken exactly the way your PDF breaks: Courier 12pt, industry margins, 55 lines to the page. Page 26 on your phone is page 26 in the export. One paginator runs the screen, the page count on your shelf, and the PDF, so nothing can quietly disagree. FLIGHT MODE Pick a destination -- one page, three, five -- and take off. Everything behind you locks until you land on the page count. No edits, no undo, no scrolling back to fix a line. It is the fastest way through a first draft, and the report at the end tells you how far you actually flew. THE BEATMAP A visual board for your structure, built into every script. Drag beat cards, wire them together, or start from Three-Act, Save the Cat, or the Hero's Journey. Beat sheets are documents of their own too, if you would rather work the structure before the pages. THE DEV BOARD Photograph the whiteboard, the napkin, the handwritten page. The Dev Board keeps the real-world material an idea came from, with dates the app stamps itself, so a script carries the record of where it started. AN ASSISTANT YOU POINT AT THINGS The writing assistant only works on the part of the script you aim it at, and it proposes -- you accept or reject every change. It never rewrites your draft behind your back. OUTLINES, TREATMENTS, NOTES Not everything is a screenplay. Outlines, treatments and notes live on the same shelf, in the same account, with the same sync. YOUR SHELF, EVERYWHERE The phone and scriptpilot.film are one account. Start a scene on a laptop, finish it on a train. Every keystroke syncs, and pulling down on any screen forces a refresh when you want to be certain. FREE DURING EARLY ACCESS Every feature, unlimited scripts, no purchases inside the app. You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app at any time.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Script Pilot at none against EpicDraft's 3. EpicDraft's advantage is device support (4 vs 2). On price, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
