Do The Hard Thing

Do The Hard Thing Most people run from discomfort. But your brain — especially the prefrontal cortex — actually grows stronger every time you do the hard thing. This app turns that science into something you can see, track, and celebrate. Do The Hard Thing is a single-screen resilience trainer that helps you record daily “hard-but-good” intentions and notice how often you follow through. Each time you choose discipline over comfort, your animated Survival Gauge rises, visualizing your growing mental strength. Skip it, and the gauge dips — a gentle reminder that strength fades when you avoid the challenge. You can type or speak your intention, tap “Did it” or “Skipped,” and instantly feel the feedback through light haptics and evolving colors. Over time, your streaks, stats, and encouraging messages reveal how consistency rewires the brain for endurance, focus, and hope. When life feels heavier than a single tap can handle, a compassionate crisis banner appears with hotline 988 — because surviving the hard thing sometimes means reaching for help. Highlights – Fast, focused SwiftUI dashboard – Voice dictation with live transcription – Animated Survival Gauge ( –500 → +500 ) across ten mental-strength levels — from Shutdown to Unstoppable – Daily Challenge reminders with spoken encouragement at 9 a.m. – On-device storage only — no tracking, no login, no cloud uploads – Designed for accessibility with dynamic type and SF Symbols Built for resilience, not diagnosis. Do The Hard Thing is a reflection tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. The 988 banner exists solely for public-service awareness. All data remains private on your device, and the Speech framework is used exclusively for live intention dictation.

A few empty minutes. You do not have to fill them. bebored is a simple place to pause. Pick attention, relaxation or sleep, choose your time, and let a little guidance leave room for quiet. MEET YOUR PAUSE PAL A small green character welcomes you in. Make its shape, colour and name yours. Your pal breathes, settles down and takes a break with you. A LITTLE QUIET COMPANY When other people are here, you can share a space with up to two of them. Tap a pal to wave. Everyone follows their own session and timer, with quiet arrivals during meditation. After overlapping sessions, send a friendly reaction. Not everyone will meet someone on every visit. A note left by another meditator can welcome you, and after a completed session you can choose a note for whoever comes next. Notes and reactions use a curated set; there is no open chat or social feed. Prefer your own space? Turn on “sit unseen” in Settings. THREE WAYS TO TAKE A BREAK • Attention: notice breathing, sounds, sensations and thoughts, then gently come back. • Relax: move through a body scan, one area at a time. • Sleep: settle into a practice that fades into silence, with no wake-up cue. START SIMPLE. KEEP GOING. Each goal starts with three introductions, then rotates through three ongoing sessions. Eighteen guided sessions, without a library to scroll through. Choose 5, 10 or 15 minutes for attention and relaxation, or 10, 20 or 30 minutes for sleep. Longer sessions leave more space between the words. Narration uses prerecorded AI-generated voices. YOUR PAL, YOUR DAYS Start as a guest with no sign-in required. See your minutes, calendar and streak, and add an optional reminder. Save your pal with an email code if you want to keep your identity, history and pass across devices. Social features need a connection. Sessions can begin once the first instruction is downloaded, while the remaining recordings download ahead. Fully cached sessions can be replayed offline while retained on your device. FREE SESSIONS. TWO OPTIONAL EXTRAS. All goals, starting durations and social features are free. The one-time boredom pass adds Brian’s narration alongside Sarah and lets you add five minutes during attention or relaxation, before closing guidance. No subscription. Your store shows the local price before you buy. You can block or report another pal, export your account data, or request account deletion in Settings. No microphone recording or GPS permission is required. bebored is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent medical conditions.
