Explore tornado history, follow severe weather, and see your local conditions with RexWeather. Discover historical tornado paths, replay archived warnings, and take a 3D flyover along the track. HISTORICAL TORNADO EXPLORER Explore U.S. tornado records dating back to 1950, with NOAA SPC history and newer NOAA NCEI records. Search U.S. and Canadian cities, browse nearby events, filter by date and intensity, or jump to famous outbreaks. Where available, NOAA Damage Assessment Toolkit surveys reveal damage footprints colored by EF rating. Canadian history includes Environment and Climate Change Canada records from 1980–2009 and available Northern Tornadoes Project records from 2017 onward. Coverage varies, with gaps before 1980 and during 2010–2016. TORNADO REPLAY AND 3D FLYOVER Replay a tornado’s journey in 2D or follow an animated tornado in 3D. Pause, scrub through time, adjust playback speed, and watch the traveled path appear behind it. Playback follows surveyed tracks or estimated survey centerlines when available, with recorded endpoints as a fallback. Intermediate positions are estimated, and maps show present-day imagery. For supported U.S. events, see historical warning polygons and how warnings evolved—including Particularly Dangerous Situation and Tornado Emergency updates. Tap a warning to read its original message or open the specific event on Iowa Mesonet. TORNADO POTENTIAL Understand how favorable local conditions are for tornado development with a 1-to-10 score and a six-hour outlook. Explore plain-language explanations of instability, wind shear, moisture, and other ingredients. U.S. scores combine available HRRR model data, NWS alerts, SPC outlooks, mesoscale discussions, and nearby storm reports. Canadian locations use GEM model inputs where available, with a global fallback and reduced-coverage indicators. Tornado Potential is an informational indicator, not a probability or an official warning. Canadian scores have not been calibrated against Canadian historical events. OFFICIAL WEATHER ALERTS View location-based National Weather Service alerts in the U.S. and Environment and Climate Change Canada alerts in Canada. Read alert details, affected areas, and expiration times, with clear severity colors and readable cards in light and dark mode. SPC CONVECTIVE OUTLOOKS Explore Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 Storm Prediction Center maps, including categorical risk, tornado, wind, and hail outlooks. Check your location’s risk and read the forecaster discussion. SPC products cover the contiguous United States. WEATHER THAT COMES TO LIFE Enjoy animated skies for clear weather, clouds, rain, thunderstorms, snow, fog, and more, with smooth transitions and moon-phase artwork at night. Preview backgrounds in Settings and customize units, appearance, and map style. SIRI, SHORTCUTS, AND APPLE WATCH Ask Siri for the nearest historical tornado, your tornado outlook, or active weather alerts. Build Shortcuts for your Home Screen or a supported iPhone’s Action button. Check weather and Tornado Potential on Apple Watch, with widgets and complications for quick access. Keep previously downloaded tornado records and cached weather available offline. Live weather, alerts, and uncached map or warning content require connectivity. Always follow official weather warnings and local emergency guidance.
