Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: ICWantOpen at 5.0 against Scanner's 4.5. ICWantOpen also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Scanner's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs every 3 weeks) and ratings volume (31 vs 2). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ICWantOpen sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Scanner sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
ICWantOpen holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner has 31 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.
ICWantOpen ships an update every 3 weeks, Scanner every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
