NINIGU

Not a stranger โ someone your friend thinks you'd really get along with. NINIGU brings the familiar tradition of being introduced through friends into an app built around the people you already know. [Friends] Add the friends you know in real life. Everything on NINIGU starts from these real connections โ there is no browsing of strangers. [Introductions by a trusted friend] Friends can create an Introduction Circle of friends they know well and vouch for. When you'd like to be introduced to someone in a friend's circle, your request goes to that friend first โ not to the other person. Your friend decides whether the introduction makes sense, adds a short note, and only then passes it along. A conversation starts only if the other person also says yes. [Be the matchmaker] You don't have to be looking for anyone yourself. Many people use NINIGU simply to introduce two friends who might get along. [Plaza] Join hobby boards, share posts and photos, comment, and plan meetups with people who share your interests. Save meetup posts to your calendar. [Meetings] Friends can arrange small group meetups together and chat in a shared room before meeting. [Profile] Share your interests, values, and a favorite song, so friends can introduce you thoughtfully. [Safety] โข Introductions always go through a mutual friend and require both people to agree โข Report and block from any profile, chat, post, or comment โข Users must be 19 or older Sometimes the people who know us best make the most meaningful introductions. NINIGU โ introductions from people you trust.
Pantry

Some things can't go in the company chat. Pantry is an anonymous chat that only reaches people who are near you right now. Phones connect directly over Bluetooth. There is no server. There is no account. [How it works] โข Create a room and set a passphrase โข Show the QR code or send the link to a coworker โข Only people who enter the same passphrase can read the room โข Messages disappear after 24 hours [What it's for] - Things you wouldn't put in writing at work - Careful subjects: leaving, pay, reviews - The conversation that stays between you - Everything from lunch plans to office rumors [Being straight with you] Bluetooth only knows that someone is close by. It cannot tell which floor they are on, or whether they work with you. That is why rooms have a passphrase โ close by AND holding the passphrase. When few people are around, anonymity gets weak. Someone may guess who wrote what. We show the live count on screen so you can tell. Capture protection is a deterrent, not a block. We detect recording and mirroring and hide the chat, and we tell the whole room when a capture is detected. But no app can stop someone photographing your screen with a second phone. [How conversations end] - Messages: deleted after 24 hours - Rooms: gone after 3 quiet days - Uploaded to a server: nothing [Thermos โ keep only what you choose] Everything disappears by default. Turn on Thermos only for the chats worth keeping. - Only the conversations you pick are saved - Saved conversations open with device authentication - Never uploaded โ not to your employer, not to us - Delete all of it whenever you want [Privacy] - No server โ messages travel directly between phones - No sign-up โ no email, no phone number - No tracking โ no advertising identifier, no location [Subscription & Terms] - Thermos: USD 0.99 per month, auto-renewing monthly subscription - Renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; your Apple Account is charged on confirmation of purchase - Manage or cancel any time in your App Store settings - Privacy Policy: https://devjihwan.github.io/NearTalk_Privacy/privacy-policy.html - Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: NINIGU at none against Pantry's 3. Pantry's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 26.0). On price, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.
