WinterScience: Know the snow. Plan your day. The snow under your skis has a history. WinterScience brings together reconstructed mountain weather, our AI-driven Stratos ensemble forecast, and detailed snowpack simulations to help you understand how conditions developed and what may come next. RECONSTRUCTING WHAT HAPPENED We combine radar, weather-station observations, and model data to build a detailed picture of recent mountain weather. Follow when precipitation arrived, how snow levels changed, and the wind and temperature shifts that shaped the snow. This reconstructed history also supplies the weather that drives our snowpack models, connecting past storms to today's conditions. STRATOS: OUR AI-DRIVEN ENSEMBLE FORECAST WinterScience Stratos uses 50 ensemble members plus a control run to explore possible weather outcomes. Those different forecasts help describe the range of conditions ahead and where the model runs agree or differ. Follow rain, snow, temperature, wind, and snow levels at mountain elevations, and compare Stratos with other models including ECMWF, GFS, and HRRR. OVER 200,000 SNOWPACK MODELS We run over 200,000 snowpack simulations across the Western U.S. using SLF SNOWPACK. These physics-based models track individual snow layers as they settle, warm, cool, melt, and change over time. Reconstructed weather builds the recent snowpack; forecast weather extends it into the days ahead. Explore layer hardness, grain types, and density. Compare wind loading and modeled ski conditions at base, mid, and summit elevations across eight slope aspects. Inspect a snow profile or read a snow report to understand how the weather is changing the mountain's snow. FROM THE REGION TO YOUR MOUNTAIN Explore weather and snowpack on an interactive terrain map. Compare mountains, save favorites, follow a detailed weather timeline, and read regional outlooks. Move between recent history and future forecasts in a native app designed for iPhone and iPad. COVERAGE Coverage includes the Western U.S. FREE ACCESS AND MEMBERSHIP Recent weather history and current and recent snowpack are available free. Eligible accounts receive a seven-day forecast trial. Annual membership provides continued access to future weather and snowpack forecasts and regional outlooks. Your membership works on iOS and the web when you sign in to the same WinterScience account. Subscriptions purchased in the app are billed through your Apple Account and renew automatically unless canceled. Manage or cancel renewal in your Apple Account subscription settings. About

Nievee

Features

Nievee is the mountain forecast, made clear. Base, mid-mountain, and summit, each with its own elevation, so you always know which point each number refers to. I'm Nicolás Lacoste, and I learned to ski at Cerro Catedral in Argentina. Every time I headed to the mountains, the weather surprised me one way or another, so I made Nievee. It starts simple and goes deeper. The first thing you see is what matters, and the pro-level detail is one tap away. FORECAST BY ELEVATION Hour by hour, up to fifteen days out. Snow, rain, wind and gusts, temperature, feels-like temperature, clouds, and visibility at every elevation. OUR OWN FORMULA We started with more than 20 global and regional weather models and used machine learning to train a formula on nearly 3,000 mountain weather stations and over 800,000 hours of measurements. It learned how terrain changes the wind and temperature in each place. WIND AND TERRAIN A 3D map shows how the wind blows across the whole mountain. We use WindNinja, the US Forest Service model, to see where the terrain speeds it up and where it pushes it off course. MOUNTAIN UV The UV index adjusted for altitude and snow, based on scientific research. A UV of 4 is nothing in the city, but on the mountain it matters. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO HEAD UP • Over 5,000 live webcams • Trail maps • Lift status • Avalanche danger • Each mountain's emergency number, right at hand • Alerts for snowfall, wind holds, and lifts • Widgets and a live card on the Lock Screen • More than 50 languages FREE, AND FOR THE COMMUNITY Nievee is free, and I'm building it on my own. If something looks off or your mountain is missing, email me at lacoste@nievee.com. Nievee isn't affiliated with any ski resort. It's a forecast, not a guarantee. Before you head into the backcountry, always check the official avalanche forecast.
