Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Focus Timer at freemium against Unglue's subscription. Focus Timer also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). Unglue's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (2.7K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Unglue sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Focus Timer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Focus Timer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Unglue has 2.7K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Unglue ships an update every 4 days, Focus Timer every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
