About

Afterburn

Features

Fly a rocket with two thumbs and land it on one pad after another, each higher than the last. The left half of the screen fires the left thruster and the right half fires the right one. Hold both to lift straight up; ease off one to tilt and steer. There's no autopilot. The physics is real, with momentum, tilt, bounce and tumbling debris, and the look is synthwave: neon grids, a chrome sun and a glowing HUD. HOW IT WORKS • Set down gently and upright on a pad to refuel and score. • Flying burns fuel, and whatever is left in the tank when you land raises your bonus. • Come in too fast or too tilted, or run the tank dry, and the rocket breaks apart in a shower of debris. SCORING Each pad is worth 1,000 points, plus up to 1,000 more for the fuel left in your tank. The climb has no top, so a run lasts until one bad touchdown ends it. Pads shrink as you go up, and higher still they start to move. TWO MODES • Ranked: the classic climb, and the mode that counts for the leaderboards. • Beginner: lighter gravity, a smaller ship, gentler handling and more forgiving landings, for learning the controls. LEADERBOARDS Every Ranked run is posted to five boards: your city, region, country, continent and the world. You can look up any city's rankings, compare scores with your Game Center friends, and turn on Rival Alerts to hear when someone passes you in your city. HANGAR Playing unlocks 5 ship hulls, each with its own color schemes, and 6 thruster flames. You earn them by reaching score milestones, landing pads, keeping a daily streak and more. Skins are cosmetic only: every ship flies the same, so the leaderboard stays fair. STATS The stats screen keeps your best run, lifetime totals and daily streak. Share a neon score card and dare your friends to beat it. If the app closes mid-run, you can resume from the last pad you landed on.
