ne good word a day, and it comes back before you forget it. Talkgud gives you one new word every day, with its meaning and an example, so your vocabulary grows without feeling like homework. It is free. There is no account, no subscription, no ads and no tracking. WHAT YOU GET (ALL FREE) - A new word every day. It does not repeat until you have seen the whole daily list - Meaning, an example sentence and a button to hear the word spoken, using your iPhone's own voice. Tick "I said it out loud today" when you have - "Still with you?": an earlier word comes back with just its meaning. Can you name it? Tap Knew it or Forgot and Talkgud decides when to show it again - "Yesterday's Word": a quick recall of the day before - "Already know it": skip a word you own and get another - A daily streak that counts the day you show up, with a weekly freeze for the day life gets in the way - A short flashcard quiz, ready once you have met five words. Words you get right come back later, words you miss come back sooner - Achievements, kept quietly on the Progress tab - Word bundles: 43 themed collections, from Science to Mythology - A Library of every word you have looked up, with search - Reminders at times you choose, and an optional evening note that your streak is safe. Both are off until you turn them on - Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets that turn over each day by themselves - iCloud sync across your devices (on unless you turn it off), and an export of all your data - Follows your iPhone's text size and light or dark appearance HOW COMING BACK WORKS Talkgud uses a simple schedule, kept on your iPhone. A word first comes back 2 days after it was your word of the day. Each time you know it the gap grows: 7 days, then 30. If you forget it, it returns in 2 days. At most one earlier word is shown a day, the most overdue first. Quiz answers feed the same schedule. This is a light version of spaced repetition, not a full flashcard system, and it does not claim any particular gain in memory. BUILT DIFFERENT Talkgud is made by one person. There is no analytics SDK and nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to email feedback. The meanings that come with the app work offline. They were written for it, not copied from a dictionary, so if one reads oddly, please tell me. A word you look up yourself is fetched from a free online dictionary, and only the word is sent. If you enjoy Talkgud there is an optional tip jar in Settings. Every feature works the same whether you tip or not. By the maker of Lovegud, Rungud, Gymgud, Minglegud, Eatgud and Bolgud. Gud apps: same rules in each, no accounts, no ads, no tracking.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: eCollection at none against Talkgud's 3. eCollection also leads on iOS requirement (12.2 vs 18.4). Talkgud's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
