Overview SecureState helps you understand your device’s security in a way that’s clear, approachable, and genuinely useful. Instead of digging through technical checklists or guessing whether something is safe, SecureState gives you a real-time security score paired with plain-language guidance. The goal is simple: help you feel safe, confident, and informed every time you use your device. How It Works SecureState checks the key factors that influence your overall security — from device settings to your immediate digital environment. Each category contributes to your score, which updates as conditions change. You’ll know right away when everything looks good, when something needs attention, and what steps can help improve your safety. The app is designed to be educational without ever being overwhelming. Every scan includes straightforward context so you understand why something matters and how it affects your day-to-day security. Most checks involve simple, interactive steps you confirm yourself — such as verifying your environment or reviewing device settings. This keeps the app lightweight, privacy-focused, and fully under your control. (Note: SecureState does not replace antivirus software or provide real-time threat monitoring.) Key Features • Real-Time Security Score – A clear visual indicator showing how secure your current situation is. • Device Safety Checks – iOS version status, lock screen protections, passcode strength, screen recording detection, and more. • Situational Awareness – Understand risks related to your network, surroundings, and connections — such as public Wi-Fi exposure or nearby Bluetooth activity. • Clear Recommendations – Practical, friendly suggestions explaining what’s safe, what’s not, and how to improve your score. • Security Tips & Guidance – Learn everyday habits that help keep your device more secure. Pro Features Upgrade for deeper insight into your security habits: • Theme Color Picker – Personalize your dashboard. • Achievement Badges – Earn badges as you build stronger security habits over time. • Vulnerability Trends – Track how your security improves, stays consistent, or shifts day-to-day. Subscription details are available in the app. Privacy First SecureState doesn’t collect personal data or send your information anywhere. All assessments and calculations happen privately on your device. Your security status belongs to you — and stays with you. Made for Everyday Users You don’t need to be a security expert to understand what’s happening on your device. SecureState focuses on clarity, not complexity, so you always know where you stand and what you can do to feel safer and more in control. HomeFront is a health monitor for your iPhone. It checks your device configuration, monitors your network exposure, and scores your security posture — all without sending a byte of your data anywhere. SECURITY SCORE — REAL ASSESSMENT, NOT THEATER HomeFront checks what actually matters: Is your passcode set? Is Find My enabled? Is your iOS version current? Are app permissions reasonable? Each check is weighted by severity. Your score reflects reality — not a fake number designed to scare you into upgrading. DNS CONTENT FILTERING — ON-DEVICE PROTECTION HomeFront filters DNS queries on your device using Apple's Network Extension framework. Known problematic domains are blocked before they load. No traffic leaves your device — the filter runs locally at 127.0.0.1. This is not a VPN. Your browsing stays private. The reference database is sourced from open community intelligence feeds and updates automatically. BREACH AWARENESS Check if your passwords or email addresses have appeared in known data breaches. Password checking uses the Have I Been Pwned k-anonymity protocol — only a partial hash prefix is sent, never your actual password. The same privacy-preserving approach used by 1Password and Firefox Monitor. SAFARI WEB SHIELD A native Safari content blocker that filters ads, trackers, and known problematic URLs. Uses Apple's Content Blocker API — the extension cannot access your browsing history or page content. PRIVACY AUDIT See which apps have access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, and photos. HomeFront flags permissions that look excessive and explains why they matter. PHISHING CHECK Learn to spot fake emails and suspicious messages. Report them directly from the app. WHAT WE DON'T DO We don't show fake alerts. We don't bundle a VPN you didn't ask for. We don't phone home with telemetry. We don't require an account. We don't slow your device down. Everything runs locally. Your data stays on your iPhone. BUILT FOR EVERYONE HomeFront is fully accessible with VoiceOver. Every score, every status indicator, every action has a descriptive label. Screen reader users get the same experience — security score announced as "87 out of 100, grade B," check results read as passed or action needed, and every button describes what it does before you tap it. No accessibility afterthought. Built in from the start. BUILT BY AN INDEPENDENT DEVELOPER HomeFront is built by one person who got tired of tools that collect more data than they protect. No venture capital. No growth metrics. No dark patterns. Just a tool that does what it says. Verdict
SecureState and HomeFront Security are too close to call on the numbers: across 3 compared parameters — price, in-app purchases and iOS requirement among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. SecureState sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and HomeFront Security sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
