About

Heed

Heed is the iOS app blocker where opening Instagram costs you a spoken verse, not a tap. Pick the apps that eat your day, and Heed pauses them behind a short declaration — read a verse aloud, and the app opens for fifteen minutes. It's built on the idea that willpower isn't the problem; the one-tap distance between thumb and app is. Speaking closes that distance. Track a streak solo, or pair up with a Companion pact and build one together. Every word you speak stays on your phone — there's no server that ever hears you. HOW IT WORKS You pick which apps to lock. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube — whichever ones eat your day. When you try to open one, your phone pauses. A verse appears on screen. You hold the button and speak it aloud. Once the words are out of your mouth, the app opens for fifteen minutes. That's it. Speaking is the new tapping. WHY IT WORKS Willpower is a finite resource. The problem isn't that you're weak; the problem is that opening an app takes one tap and your brain rewards it before your soul can intervene. A spoken declaration is different. It engages your mouth, your lungs, your ears. It pulls you from passive scrolling to active intention. It is, in old terms, a prayer. Take Lab measures real delivery time between your taps as you read a script beat by beat, then saves a snapshot for comparison and revision. HOW IT WORKS 1. Write a script in Scripts, then choose it in Take Lab. 2. Start the take, read each beat and tap Next as you finish. Pause when needed; leaving the app pauses timing. 3. Finish, add a note and save the take. Reopen its original script snapshot, compare an earlier identical script and share the timing report. Beat-based writing, estimated runtime, production packs, hook and format libraries, shot planning and auto-paced rehearsal remain available in five main tabs. A saved take keeps its original text even after the script changes. WHAT TO KNOW Timing follows your taps and excludes pauses. No speech recognition, microphone or audio recording is used by Take Lab. Keep takes under two hours and individual beats under one hour. Up to 100 spoken beats and 200 saved takes. A changed script is not presented as an identical comparison. iPhone and iPad.
