Read difficult material without breaking your reading flow. Readholic is a PDF and EPUB reader built to help you understand and retain what you read — textbooks, research papers, technical books, classics. When a passage is unclear, select it and tap Explain. Ask follow-up questions, turn the same material into flashcards or quizzes, and review it with spaced repetition until it sticks. NEW IN 1.1 • Your own AI key: a one-time purchase lets you use your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini (where available) or DeepSeek for AI explanations, follow-ups and flashcards. No AI service is included; your provider bills you for its use. Your key is stored only on your device, and these requests don't count toward Readholic's plan limits (fair-use limits apply). • Nine reading themes: White, Linen, Sepia, Sage, Mist, Contrast, Dusk, Dark and Midnight. Figures and images adapt to the theme. • New reading fonts: Literata, EB Garamond, IM Fell English, Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, Lexend and OpenDyslexic. OpenDyslexic and Atkinson Hyperlegible Next can help readers with dyslexia or low vision. • Choose the highlight color that marks the passages AI has explained for you. • A redesigned AI Explanation sheet with a cleaner, margin-note look. READ AND UNDERSTAND • Read your PDF and EPUB books and documents in one place. • Select a difficult passage and get an AI explanation without leaving the page. • Ask follow-up questions while the original text stays in front of you. • Every explanation is saved with its highlight, right where you found it. • Works with real academic material, including mathematical notation. FIND SOMETHING TO READ • Import your own files, or download public-domain classics from Project Gutenberg. • Get free open textbooks from OpenStax, converted for comfortable reading. • Read research papers from arXiv as clean, reflowable text. TURN READING INTO STUDY • Generate flashcards from a selected passage or a whole chapter. • Quiz yourself with multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, and written answers graded by AI. • Review with spaced repetition — due cards wait for you in the Study tab. LEARNING MEMORY Readholic keeps a short summary of the concepts you have studied so future explanations can build on what you already know instead of starting from zero. You stay in control: view, disable, or reset it in Settings at any time. LEARN WITH THE COMMUNITY • Discover flashcard decks shared by other learners. • Search by book, subject, or topic, and filter by language. • Download decks to study in Readholic, rate the useful ones, and thank their creators. • Share your own decks. Only the cards you publish become public — never your books, notes, or reading history. YOUR LANGUAGE, YOUR CHOICE • The app speaks English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, and Arabic. • Choose the language of explanations and flashcards independently of the book: read an English textbook, learn in Spanish, Japanese, or Arabic. Readholic is for students, professionals, researchers, and lifelong learners who want more than summaries. Read → Explain → Understand → Flashcards → Quiz → Review → Remember You can start free. Some AI and study features require Readholic Pro (auto-renewing subscription). Using your own AI key requires a separate one-time purchase.
