About

Words in Context

Words in Context is a calm home for the words you meet while reading, listening and talking. Save a word in seconds, keep it with the sentence it came from, and let it come back when it's time. SAVE WORDS IN SECONDS • Type, paste or dictate a word, or scan it from a page with the camera. • Share text from other apps straight into your Inbox. • Add words from your Apple Watch with your voice, Scribble or the keyboard. LEARN FROM CONTEXT • Keep the translation, transcription (IPA), pronunciation, example sentences and dictionary links with each word. • Hear any word in the iPhone's own voice, even offline. • Write your own examples, or let Apple Intelligence on supported iPhones or your own Gemini key suggest some. WORDS COME BACK GENTLY • Spaced repetition with two simple answers: "Not yet" and "I know this". Each button shows when the word will come back. • Review everything, one folder or just your Inbox, 10, 30 or 50 words at a time. • Tap the speaker on a card, or let each word play by itself. • No streaks, badges or pressure. ORGANIZE YOUR WAY • Folders, an Inbox for new words, and search. • Import word lists (CSV, TSV, TXT or Markdown) and back up your whole library to Files. • Create themed word lists with AI: in the app with your own Gemini key, or with a ready-made prompt for your favorite AI chat app. LEARNING RUSSIAN? Russian basics teaches the alphabet with everyday words, the main pronunciation rules and numbers, with a number builder that turns any number up to 999,999 into Russian blocks you can hear. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no ads, no tracking. • Your vocabulary stays on your device. • Online dictionaries and Gemini work only after you turn on Online services, and your Gemini key stays in your Keychain. The interface is in English and Russian, and the app helps you learn English or Russian.
