Chattero
Read full descriptionHide full description
Chattero is a Twitch chat app for iPhone and iPad, built on the open-source Chatterino2 that desktop chatters have used for years. Open several channels in tabs and switch between them with a swipe. Messages show BTTV, FFZ and 7TV emotes, animated ones too, plus badges and your own username colours. Mentions of you are highlighted and collected on their own tab, and whispers have theirs. Tap a name to see who is talking: profile, how long they have followed, subscription, their recent messages in this channel, and a place for your own notes about them. If you moderate a channel, the tools are right in the chat: timeout and ban from a message or a user card, an AutoMod queue with approve and deny, chat modes, and a list of chatters. Chattero signs you in with Twitch's own login page and stores the token on your device only. No ads, no tracking, no accounts of its own. Chat works without signing in; you sign in when you want to write. Made by one person for people who read Twitch chat more than they watch the stream.

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Chattero at every 4 days against Maypole's fortnightly. Maypole's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
