Enginamatic
Read full descriptionHide full description
Enginamatic is the set of calculations a mechanical or plant engineer, a technician and a workshop supervisor do during the day — on paper, in a notebook or in a spreadsheet — gathered into one app that works without a network. 203 CALCULATIONS, 94 MODULES, 16 DISCIPLINES Fluids: pumps, Bernoulli, pipe friction and pressure loss, fans and air ducts. Material handling: screw conveyors, belt conveyors, bucket elevators, chain conveyors, wire rope and sheaves, mobile cranes, lifts. Strength: strength of materials, sections, thermal movement, material weights. Machine elements and drives: V-belt and chain drives, torque, gear ratio and peripheral speed, gear dimensions, bearing life, motor power check. Also: pneumatics, thermodynamics and heat transfer, combustion and boilers, plumbing and HVAC, electrical, machining and production, metrology and inspection, chemistry and process, computing and networks, geometry, finance. And occupational safety engineering: rigging, ergonomics and manual handling, chemical exposure, heat stress and WBGT, ventilation, noise and vibration, PPE stock, falling objects, safety performance indicators. BUILT LIKE AN ENGINEER WORKS Every input carries its unit and every output carries its unit. You enter what you have, and what is missing is the thing you are looking for. THE ANSWER, NOT ONLY THE NUMBER Tap the method card and the calculation opens up: the relation it used, every symbol in it, what it assumes and which document it came from. The reference tables it leans on are inside the app too, so a result can be traced instead of trusted blindly. THE WORKSHOP, NOT ONLY THE FORMULA 349 machines and 443 tools, each one explained; 53 how-it-is-made guides; periodic inspection rows; the safety shelf; 347 standards; the periodic table with a card for each of its 118 elements. INSTRUMENTS THAT READ REAL SENSORS Spirit level, plumb bob, angle finder, screen ruler, altimeter, magnetic probe, compass — and squared paper to sketch on. RECENT WORK AT HAND The widget puts the last three calculations one tap away, and the Apple Watch page keeps the result in view while your hands are busy. Works offline: the tables and the formulas are in the app, and there is no account and no server. What you type stays on your device; mirroring it across your devices through your own iCloud is a Premium feature. The engineering decision remains yours. This is a calculator, not an approval. FREE, AND WHAT A SUBSCRIPTION OPENS All 203 calculations are free, with their method cards, and stay free. Everything else requires a subscription: Plus — no ads; more than 5 saved calculations; more than 20 history rows; the appearance packs; the alternate app icons. Gold — project folders; the A4 calculation sheet as a PDF; CSV and JSON export; the material and profile library beyond its three free families; the reference tables beyond the free five. Premium — the full result analysis; your usage statistics; iCloud sync across your devices. Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Unit Converter Engineering Pro at none against Enginamatic's shown. Unit Converter Engineering Pro also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). Enginamatic's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs weekly). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
