ANCHOKO — hide any diagram, then learn it Image occlusion on your phone, free. Drop boxes over the labels on an anatomy plate, a circuit drawing or a map, and each box becomes its own card. IMAGE OCCLUSION THAT ACTUALLY WORKS ON A PHONE • Draw rectangles, ellipses or free-form shapes over any picture • Each shape becomes a separate card, so one diagram teaches you twenty things • Pinch to zoom while you place shapes — small labels stay reachable • Show the other boxes while you answer, or hide them • Works on photos, screenshots, textbook scans and imported PDF pages BRING YOUR ANKI DECKS • Import .apkg files and keep your cards, your images and your deck names • Cloze deletions come across as cloze deletions • Image occlusion notes keep their boxes, on the right part of the picture • Note types ANCHOKO does not know are still imported, front and back — nothing is lost • You are told what changed during the import. No silent edits PHOTOGRAPH A PAGE, GET CARDS • Photograph notes, a textbook or a handout and the text is read on your device • Cards follow the page layout — "term: meaning", "word translation", numbered lists • You see the recognised text before any card is made, so misreads never become cards RED AND COLOURED TEXT, FOUND FOR YOU • Anything written in red pen or pink highlighter is detected and covered automatically • Switch to green, blue or yellow when that is what you used • Popular with students in Japan, who use a red filter sheet for exactly this REVIEW AT THE RIGHT MOMENT • The SM-2 algorithm works out, card by card, when you are about to forget • Four ratings — Again, Hard, Good, Easy — reshape the interval • See your forgetting curve and how much is left • Cap how many new cards appear each day HANDS-FREE BROWSING Cards flip themselves at timings you choose, with read-aloud for commutes. Auto-advance never grades your cards, so your review schedule stays intact. • Also: cloze deletions, and annotations written straight onto a picture YOUR PHOTOS STAY ON YOUR DEVICE Text recognition, red-text detection and PDF rendering all happen on your device. Photos and PDFs never reach an ANCHOKO server. MORE • XP, levels, 18 achievement badges, and a weekly ranking with friends • Publish your own decks, or download and try decks other people made PRICING Free, for as long as you like: • Up to 200 cards you make yourself — they stay yours even if you stop paying • Unlimited image occlusion boxes on the cards you make • The full spaced-repetition engine, and unlimited community decks • Photo-to-cards and red-text detection, 3 a day ANCHOKO Pro adds: • Unlimited cards • Unlimited photo-to-cards and red-text detection • PDF import • Auto-advance • Backup export • Your progress follows you across devices (below) Three plans: monthly, yearly, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Amounts are shown on the purchase screen in the app. PICK UP WHERE YOU LEFT OFF, ON ANY DEVICE • iPhone, iPad, Android and the browser share the same cards, study record, streaks and XP once you sign in • Started without an account? Signing in later keeps everything you already made SAMPLE DECKS, ONLY IF YOU WANT THEM Nothing is added behind your back. You pick what you want, added cards never count toward the free limit, and you can delete them at any time. LANGUAGES English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French, Vietnamese, Thai ALSO IN YOUR BROWSER Sign in with the same account and study without installing anything. ABOUT ANCHOKO PRO Monthly and yearly are auto-renewing subscriptions: they renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you can manage or cancel them in your account settings. Lifetime is a single payment — nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. ANCHOKO is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ankitects Pty Ltd. Flashcards that stick. Modern spaced repetition, seven curated language courses — nearly 20,000 cards — or bring your own decks via CSV / TSV / .apkg. No account, no tracking. iCloud sync. CURATED LANGUAGE COURSES Each course is structured around real proficiency frameworks. Cards include audio, example sentences, and grammatical gender / tone where relevant. • French (CEFR) — A1 to C2, 3,899 cards • Spanish (CEFR) — A1 to C2, 3,958 cards • Italian (CEFR) — A1 to C2, 4,237 cards • German (CEFR) — A1 to C2, 4,133 cards • Japanese (JLPT) — N5 to N1, 2,338 cards • Korean (TOPIK) — A1 to B1, 1,165 cards • French Street Speak — 274 cards of colloquial vocabulary native speakers actually use The French course also includes a listening-comprehension beta: audio-first cards born from the words you already know, so your ears catch up with your eyes. BRING YOUR OWN Already have a flashcard library? Import from: • CSV / TSV files — including tab-separated files like those exported from popular study tools, or anything you can paste from a spreadsheet. Map columns to Front, Back, Tags. Map a header row if you have one. • .apkg files — with media, sub-decks, and review history preserved. Drop the file from Files, iCloud Drive, or any document provider. Imports run on a background thread so a 5,000-card deck doesn't lock the app. Failed rows (malformed quoting, missing fields) are reported with a downloadable CSV you can fix and re-import. HOW STUDYING WORKS FSRS-5 is a modern spaced-repetition algorithm that schedules each card based on your actual recall, not arbitrary intervals. Forgetting curves shorten over time. The algorithm has 19 parameters that adapt to your specific learning history, and you can re-optimise them from your own reviews after a few weeks of use. Each language course pairs recognition (see the word, recall the meaning) with production (read the example sentence, produce the target word with full grammatical context). Production cards unlock once a word has been seen a few times — so you're not blindly guessing on day one. Native-quality TTS reads cards in the target language using your installed iOS voices. Settings includes a voice setup helper that links straight into the iOS pronunciation download for each language. OCR and voice dictation are built in for card authoring — point the camera at a textbook page or speak the word, and the recognised text drops into the field. SYNCS ACROSS YOUR DEVICES Decks, cards, review history, streak, achievements — everything syncs through your private iCloud account. Same Apple ID, same state on iPhone and iPad. No third-party servers see your study data. A pull-to-refresh on the home screen forces a sync if you ever need it. PRIVACY No account. No sign-up. No third-party login. No tracking pixels. No selling data. We never could even if we wanted to — there's nothing to sell. The aggregate product-health signals we do collect (app launch, import succeeded, review submitted) are bucketed, anonymous, and never include card content, deck names, or review ratings. You can turn them off entirely from Settings. Your decks, your reviews, your progress — they live on your device and in your private iCloud database. That's it. --- Open the App Store, install, study. Built by one person who wanted spaced repetition to feel less like a chore and more like a tool.
