OpenResponses is OpenAI's API on your iPhone and iPad, with nothing hidden. Bring your own API key and it shows you the request before it goes out, the events as they stream back, and every tool call along the way. It's for people who build with OpenAI's models, or who just want to see what the newest ones actually do before writing any code. It started as the successor to OpenAssistant, my app for OpenAI's older Assistants API, and talks straight to OpenAI's Responses API with no server of mine in between. PICK A MODEL AND SEE WHAT IT DOES • GPT-6.1 Sol, GPT-6 Sol, Astra and Luna, the GPT-5.6 family, and older models your key can still use. When OpenAI releases a new one, it shows up in the menu on its own, with its settings read from OpenAI's docs. • Reasoning from None to Max where the model takes it, Pro mode, verbosity, context compaction and the rest of the request settings, all in one place. • Replies stream in as they're written, with the reasoning summaries the API sends, token use, and the full request and response a tap away. • Save setups as presets, attach photos and documents, export conversations, and search your chats by what they're about, not just the exact words. THE TOOLS THE API HAS • Web search with sources, Code Interpreter, file search over your own vector stores, and image generation and editing with GPT Image 2.5, up to Max quality. • Voice conversations with GPT Realtime 2.1 or GPT-Live 1, with mute, and with headphones and Voice Barge-In on you can talk over it to cut it off. • A browser the model can drive, inside the app, with Stop, time limits and action limits. • MCP connections. Sign in to supported apps or add a server by address, look through the tools it offers, and approve tool calls unless you turn that off. • Calendar, Reminders, Contacts and Notion, only when you turn them on. • Local Python. The model writes it, you read it, you tap Run, and it runs on your phone. Standard library, no internet, 30 seconds a run. API WORKBENCH For when you'd rather write the request yourself. Edit the raw JSON, send it over HTTP, streaming or WebSocket, watch every event come back, and export the whole response. It also counts tokens, compacts context, and manages conversations, files, vector stores, containers and batch jobs. Anything that deletes asks first. A few things worth knowing before you download it: • There's no OpenResponses account. You need your own OpenAI API key, and what you use is billed to your OpenAI account. • Your key stays in the iOS Keychain and only ever goes to OpenAI. • Explore Demo lets you look around without a key, and it sends nothing. • Before your first live request, the app shows what gets sent to OpenAI and waits for you to say yes. • It runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later. One last thing. This shows you what OpenAI's models do, and they can be wrong, sometimes confidently. Check anything that matters before you act on it.
Cognitive Physics
This app transforms your device into a truth-seeking instrument by training a personal AI to research alongside you. It guides you to ask better questions, verify claims, and build a permanent knowledge base from your imported materials. Designed for serious workflows, it focuses on observable learning processes rather than just providing answers.
- Train your own AI from scratch
- Research like a scientist
- Ask questions with citations
- Build a permanent knowledge base
- Multi-agent intelligence
- Automatic paper generation

Cognitive Physics began as a single, hard-edged question: How do mind and matter belong to the same set of laws? That question led to years of work in Cognitive Physics—and eventually to something tangible. Something you can carry. Something you can use every day. This app runs on Systemic Narrative Integration (SNI), a research technology inspired by how the great minds of physics search for structure inside uncertainty. SNI treats learning as a disciplined process. It measures coherence, tracks uncertainty, and when something is incomplete, it refuses cleanly instead of pretending. The goal is not to sound intelligent—it’s to behave honestly. Cognitive Physics turns your device into a truth-seeking instrument, not a chat toy. Inside the app lives a real AI system designed to grow with you. You don’t just use an assistant—you train your own AI from scratch to research alongside you. It learns from the material you import, adapts based on what you approve or reject, and improves through structured feedback. Rather than dumping answers, it behaves like a teacher—guiding you to ask better questions, build valid requests, verify claims, and develop the habits that lead to real understanding. This is a personal research lab where intelligence isn’t a costume—it’s a process you can observe, shape, and refine. A place where mind and matter meet as measurable structure. A place where your AI doesn’t just talk—it learns the way a serious system should: carefully, transparently, and with you in the loop. What You Can Do with Cognitive Physics Train Your Own AI • Build a personal AI from scratch using your own PDFs, notes, links, and research • Learn through approval/rejection—not blind consumption • Structured feedback improves behavior over time • No forced answers, no hallucinated confidence Research Like a Scientist • Live web, RSS, and paper discovery • Duplicate prevention and source tracking • Date, time, year, and origin preserved for every finding • Automatic evaluation using coherence and entropy signals Ask Questions with Citations • Ask questions directly against your own library • Answers are grounded in retrieved sources • Clickable citations open the exact passage used • If evidence is missing, the app tells you—honestly Build a Permanent Knowledge Base • Import and manage PDFs • Automatic text extraction and semantic search • Quality-based organization (high, medium, low, trash) • Everything stored locally and permanently Multi-Agent Intelligence • Specialized agents for planning, coding, reviewing, testing, and optimizing • Agents coordinate tasks and self-correct • Offline learning from success and failure patterns • Designed for serious workflows, not roleplay Automatic Paper Generation • LaTeX papers generated from accumulated research • Offline diagram and figure creation • Reproducible outputs tied to your source library • Built for real academic and technical use Measure Learning, Not Just Output • Coherence and entropy tracked for every interaction • Structural vs semantic uncertainty separated • Refusal is treated as signal, not failure • Stability and dispersion trends visualized over time Offline-First, Instrument-Grade Design • On-device embeddings and local inference • Works without internet once your library exists • No cloud dependency required • Built with safety, performance, and transparency in mind Cognitive Physics is not about replacing your thinking. It’s about giving you a system that teaches you how to think better, alongside an AI that learns the same way you do.

Verdict
OpenResponses and Cognitive Physics are too close to call on the numbers: across 9 compared parameters — price, rating, ratings volume and update cadence among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
