Ora is a Christian prayer app. It brings together the Liturgy of the Hours, the daily Mass, the Rosary, the Bible, the examination of conscience and a rule of life, all readable without a connection. THE LITURGY OF THE HOURS Lauds, Terce, Sext, None, Vespers, Compline and the Office of Readings, updated every day according to the liturgical calendar. In English, the psalms and readings come from public-domain texts (Douay-Rheims, Vulgate, Divinum Officium); the French edition uses the official AELF texts. Hymns, antiphons, canticles and short readings, with audio playback and auto-scroll so you can pray while walking. THE DAILY MASS Readings, psalm, Gospel and prayers of the faithful for the day, the Order of Mass, prefaces, Eucharistic prayers and sequences. The saint of the day and the rank of the celebration are shown at the top. SEVERAL RITES AND FORMS One setting switches the liturgical mode of the whole app: - Roman rite, ordinary form. - Tridentine form: breviary and Mass according to the 1960 rubrics, in Latin with translation. - Benedictine and Dominican breviaries, in Latin with translation. - Byzantine rite, for Orthodox and Greek Catholic Christians: Vespers, Orthros, Terce, Sext and Compline in the reader's form, and the Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom. Eight tones, kathismata, prokeimena and troparia change every day; Pascha follows the Gregorian or the Julian calendar, as you choose. English texts from Isabel Hapgood's 1906 Service Book. THE ROSARY AND THE PRAYERS A guided Rosary bead by bead with the mysteries of the day, the Divine Mercy chaplet, the Franciscan crown, the Way of the Cross, litanies, novenas, the Angelus, the Jesus Prayer, adoration with a timer. A catalogue of prayers sorted by time of day, situation and intention, with the Latin text where it exists. THE BIBLE AND THE PSALMS The whole Bible in Douay-Rheims and the Latin Vulgate, as well as Crampon (1923, Catholic canon of 73 books) and Louis Segond (1910) in French. Reading plans, guided lectio divina, complete psalter, verse of the day, concordance. EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE AND RULE OF LIFE Daily or weekly examination, or preparation for confession, full screen, one question after another. The rule of life suggests practices suited to your level, from the sign of the cross to the full Liturgy of the Hours: you tick what you have done, you see your progress, and discreet reminders bring you back to prayer if you drift away. FORMATION AND READING Saint of the day (Butler's Lives), artwork of the day, Church Fathers, the Imitation of Christ, catechism, councils and encyclicals, formation quizzes, preparation for the sacraments, an Ignatian retreat, Marian consecration according to St Louis-Marie de Montfort. OFFLINE The offices, the Mass and the prayers of the next 7 or 30 days download automatically when you open the app. On a plane, in the mountains or in a monastery, everything stays readable. LANGUAGES Interface in English, French, Italian and Latin. Some prayers and readings are still available in French only; the English edition uses public-domain texts. FREE, NO ADS Everything is available without an account and without a subscription. The app is funded by donations from those who wish to give; a donation unlocks nothing, it pays for development. A remark, a missing text, a mistake in an office: write to us from the app, we read everything. Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/appstore/dev/stdeula/
