Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Omega Protocol at 100% against MergeCiv's 33%. Omega Protocol also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ads (none vs shown). MergeCiv's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.0). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MergeCiv sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Omega Protocol asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

MergeCiv holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Omega Protocol has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of MergeCiv's written reviews are positive against 100% of Omega Protocol's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

MergeCiv ships an update weekly, Omega Protocol every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
