Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Coin Scanner at none against NumiScan's shown. Coin Scanner also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (30 vs 4). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. NumiScan sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Coin Scanner sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Coin Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Coin Scanner has 30 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.
NumiScan ships an update fortnightly, Coin Scanner every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
