Recreate any photo, perfectly framed. MatchShot is the overlay camera built for series - baby growth, fitness transformations, beard journeys, skincare glow over time, plant growth, pregnancy weeks, travel returns, and any "same shot, but later" project you want to actually finish. Drop a reference photo onto your viewfinder. Yesterday's shot becomes a soft ghost on today's screen. Line up the eyes, the doorframe, the horizon. Tap the shutter. Today's photo is already aligned to yesterday's - no cropping, no AI guessing, no remembering where you stood. Other progress-photo apps align your shots AFTER the fact - they crop, re-warp, lose pixels, and still drift. MatchShot aligns BEFORE the fact. The series actually looks like a series. USE IT FOR • Pregnancy timeline - one photo a week, perfectly aligned. • Baby & kid growth - same chair, same teddy, every birthday. • Fitness transformations - same pose, same mirror, real change. • Beard, hair, and skin progress --track real change over weeks. • Plant and garden growth - daily shots into a smooth timelapse. • Same-place travel - then and now from the same step. • Landscape seasons - one viewpoint, four seasons. • Recipe carousels - every step from the same angle. WHAT'S INSIDE - OVERLAY CAMERA: Reference photo on the viewfinder. Adjustable opacity, flip, and lock. Composition guides for rule of thirds, golden ratio, and custom framing. - COLLECTIONS: Every series grouped automatically. Grid or timeline view with adaptive day/month grouping. - COMPARE: Before/after slider. Onion-skin overlay. Drag, scale, rotate to fine-tune. Save the aligned transform. - AI ALIGN: One tap. Face landmarks first, body pose next, image registration last. Pixel-accurate register without a slider. - EXPORT: Turn any Collection into a 10-second timelapse video, a looping GIF, or a before/after collage. - PRIVATE BY DESIGN: Every photo stays on your iPhone. No accounts. No forced cloud sync. No ad tracking. No selling your data. Manage or cancel anytime via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. A NOTE FROM THE MAKER I built MatchShot because I have boxes of photos I'd love to recreate today, and every existing tool asked me to do the hard work - alignment, after the moment had passed. MatchShot puts that work where it belongs: on the viewfinder, before the shutter. Some frames are meant to have sequels. Download MatchShot today, drop in your first reference photo, and take the first shot of a series you'll actually finish. Recreate a photo with the original visible over your camera. Keep each return in the same project so you can compare photos and follow changes over time. Choose the project shape that matches what you are trying to repeat: FRAME: RECREATE ONE PHOTO Keep one reference beside the live camera while you recreate a family pose, revisit a childhood photo, return to a place years later, or repeat a composition for a renovation or creative project. Adjust the reference opacity, move your camera and pinch to zoom until the framing matches, then capture the new photo. The reference guides your framing but does not appear in the final image. COLLECTION: COMPLETE A RELATED SET Collect several references that belong together, then work through them whenever each place or moment is available. A Collection can be a set of filming locations, a music-video or game-inspired checklist, architectural details, public art, or any themed group of real scenes you want to recreate. Every reference is an independent item with its own capture state and history. There is no required order, so you can return to one location today and another months from now. SERIES: RETURN TO ONE VIEW Use a Series for the same viewpoint over days, months, or years: a growing plant, a changing room, a construction project, a seasonal scene, or an everyday moment worth returning to. Series keeps each return on one chronological timeline. Choose any two moments as Then and Now, and decide whether the next capture should use the original reference or the previous photo. COMPARE THE MOMENTS Review a reference and capture with Wipe or Side by side. Portrait photos sit naturally beside each other; wide photos are shown one above the other so the framing stays readable. Keep the photo history connected to the project that produced it. REFERENCE-LED CAPTURE - Live reference overlay with adjustable opacity - Fit or Fill reference presentation - Rotate the reference to suit your framing - Pinch to zoom and tap to focus - Portrait and landscape capture - Frame, Collection, and Series project templates - Wipe and Side-by-side comparison - Then & Now composition - Photo history for every reference - Optional capture location - Full project archive export and import Projects and media stay on your device. No account or login is required.
