ReadMaxx helps you get through more of what you want to read — whether you want to read it faster or understand the essentials in seconds. Import a PDF, EPUB, Web Link, or text you’ve pasted in. Then choose how you want to engage with it: read using ReadMaxx’s RSVP speed reader, or generate a concise summary and key points to quickly understand what matters. - Read faster - ReadMaxx’s RSVP reader presents one word at a time at a controlled pace, reducing eye movement and helping you maintain attention while reading. Optional haptic cues reinforce the structure of what you’re reading, from subtle taps at the start of each word to stronger signals at sentence boundaries — helping anchor attention without pulling focus away from the text. - Understand faster - When you don’t need to read every word, ReadMaxx can summarise your content for you. Generate a concise overview and key points from documents, books, articles, and other long-form text — giving you a faster way to understand what something is about and decide where to spend your attention. Mononote helps you focus on one note at a time. Simply open the app and write down anything you want your future self to remember, whether it's a to-do, reminder, or motivational note. Keep it visible on your Home Screen with a widget, or start a Live Activity to pin it to your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island when it's something more urgent. The app is intentionally simple, showing only one active note at a time. Archive or delete it when you're done, and a new blank note is ready for whatever comes next. Archived notes can always be restored if you need them again.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Mononote at none against ReadMaxx's 3. Mononote also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.6) and ratings volume (129 vs 7). ReadMaxx's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 weeks). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Mononote holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mononote has 129 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of ReadMaxx's written reviews are positive against 94% of Mononote's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

ReadMaxx ships an update every 4 days, Mononote every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 19, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
