Learn Ladino is a fast, playful way to learn Judeo-Spanish. The language Sephardic Jews carried out of Spain in 1492 and kept alive for over 500 years across Istanbul, Thessaloniki, Sarajevo, and beyond. UNESCO classifies Ladino as severely endangered. Most fluent speakers today are grandparents' age or older, and the language is rarely passed down to children anymore. Learn Ladino was built to change that, one word at a time. FOUR WAYS TO LEARN - Build a Sentence — arrange words into correct Ladino sentences - Meaning Guess — multiple-choice quizzes on real Ladino phrases - Conversation — chat through real dialogues with Nona, a friend, and a teacher - Speed Challenge — a 30-second vocabulary blitz Whether you have Sephardic heritage, are curious about a language you've never heard of, or just want to try something different from Duolingo's usual lineup, Learn Ladino is a small way to keep a five-century-old language spoken a little longer.
