TypePress transforms your iPad, Mac and iPhone into a fully animated typewriter. No notifications. No formatting toolbars. No distractions. Just you, a sheet of paper, and the deeply satisfying rhythm of mechanical keys. Every letter you type triggers the full typewriter sequence: the key depresses, the type bar strikes the ribbon, the carriage slides left, and the paper inches upward. When you reach the end of a line, you hear the bell. Hit return and the carriage resets with a mechanical slide. It doesn't just look like a typewriter — it feels like one. The typewriter itself is a hand-drawn illustration, not a generic 3D render. The carriage is a separate component that moves independently above the body. The round keys are tappable directly on the illustration. You write on the machine, not beside it. SOUNDS THAT MAKE YOU WANT TO WRITE Four mechanical key variations rotate randomly so no two keystrokes sound identical. The carriage return bell rings with layered harmonics. The slide sweeps downward. Paper feed rolls softly. Every sound is synthesized from noise and resonance — warm, tactile, analog. Toggle them off if you prefer silence. CHOOSE YOUR TYPEFACE Seven fonts across four categories: Typewriter — Courier Prime (classic monospace) and Special Elite (worn, inky, imperfect) Monospace — Cutive Mono, Anonymous Pro, IBM Plex Mono Serif — Cutive (elegant typewriter serif) Display — Limelight (Art Deco headlines) Switch fonts from Settings and the change appears instantly on your page. Every page remembers its own font. ARCHIVE & STATS Every document is auto-saved. The Archive screen shows your complete library with word counts, dates, and text previews. Pin favorites to the top, sort pages into folders, add tags, and find anything with search. Deleted pages wait in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Your Stats section tracks total documents and lifetime words written. TWO RIBBONS Switch to red ink, type a word, switch back to black. Only the letters you type next change color, and it carries into your exports. ICLOUD SYNC & APP LOCK Turn on iCloud Sync and your pages, folders and tags follow you across iPhone, iPad and Mac. No account and no server, just your own iCloud. Lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. Both stay off until you turn them on. EXPORT YOUR PAGES Export as PDF with three paper styles: Vintage (aged parchment with typewriter imperfections), Modern (clean white), or Minimal (no decoration). Or export as plain text for editing elsewhere. Your first PDF export is free. MADE FOR MAC, IPAD AND IPHONE The typewriter sits at the bottom, the paper rises above it, and the sidebar gives you one-tap access to Write, Archive, and Settings. Nothing is hidden. Nothing requires a manual. On iPhone the carriage and paper fill the screen and a touch typewriter keyboard sits below, so a thought is never more than a few taps away. TYPEPRESS PRO After your free export, unlock unlimited PDF and text exports, extra sounds, typewriter skins and wide pages with TypePress Pro: · Monthly — $2.99/month · Yearly — $19.99/year (save 44%) · Lifetime — $49.99 one-time Your subscription works across your iPhone, iPad and Mac. Manage or cancel anytime through your Apple ID settings. WHO THIS IS FOR Journalers who want a ritual, not an app. Poets who want constraint. Novelists doing morning pages. Students taking notes without tabs pulling them away. Anyone who has ever thought: I just want to write. TypePress doesn’t auto-correct. It doesn’t suggest. It doesn’t count your streaks, and it only syncs to iCloud if you turn that on. It gives you a machine, a page, and the sound of your own words landing. Start typing.
