Meddah is an e-book reader for the books you already own — read them with your eyes, or listen to them. Add EPUB, MOBI/AZW, PDF and TXT files from the Files app; Meddah reads them aloud paragraph by paragraph, highlights the word being spoken, and picks up where you left off. READING ALOUD • Offline narration with the Apple voices on your device: male or female, adjustable speed • Optional Google Cloud Text-to-Speech with your own API key for WaveNet and Chirp voices, with a monthly character counter and limit • Lock screen and headphone controls, background playback, sleep timer, automatic pause for calls • Moves on to the next chapter by itself; tap any paragraph to start reading from there THE READING EXPERIENCE • Text with bold, italics, quotes, lists and images • Light, Sepia, Dark and Black themes; eight typefaces, size, line spacing and margins • Hierarchical contents, in-book search, chapter and progress indicators • Bookmarks, highlights in four colours, notes, and note export SCANNED PDFs • PDFs whose text layer is broken or missing are read again from the page images with on-device text recognition, so Turkish letters come out right — no internet needed ON EVERY DEVICE • Your reading position, bookmarks and notes sync across your own devices through iCloud SHARING AND BACKGROUND MUSIC • Turn a line you like into a quote card in five styles and share it • Quiet piano while you read (Satie, Debussy, Bach, Mozart; public domain) or rain, fireplace and sea sounds; you can add your own music files PRIVACY Your books stay on your device.
