Beeli is for learning Africa's living languages from the people who speak them. Izon carries the deepest course, alongside Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Swahili, Amharic, Oromo, Twi and many more. Every word, phrase and song comes from real community contributors, not a database. A GUIDED JOURNEY Learn follows an ordered path. Each lesson builds on the last, with quick checks inside the lesson and a Playground game at every checkpoint. Not sure where to start? Take the placement quiz. LESSONS BUILT AROUND REAL SPEECH Every lesson is a transcript of real speech, with speaker labels on each line. Each word lights up as it is spoken, at whatever speed you choose. Tap any word to see what it means, read the cultural notes in place, and share a line with a friend. A DICTIONARY THAT KNOWS WHAT YOU MEAN Words are split into their senses, so you practise one meaning at a time and unlock the next as you master it. Follow synonyms, opposites and word histories from one entry to the next. PLAYGROUND Fourteen games to practise with, including Speed Round, Recall Bingo, Dictation, Say It Back, Sentence Builder and Fill the Proverb. Spaced review brings back the words and phrases you need most. SCRIPTS AND CULTURE Learn Nsα»bα»dα» for Igbo, the Ge'ez script and Adinkra symbols. Explore proverbs, songs, story films and podcast seasons, with short previews before you start. SHOW UP AND IT SHOWS Keep a streak, meet your daily goal, and climb daily, weekly and monthly quests. A grove grows with every day you learn and never withers. Earn badges along the way. WORD OF THE DAY, ON YOUR HOME SCREEN Word of the Day, Song of the Week and your daily challenges as home-screen widgets. Send Beeli cards to friends straight from iMessage. CONTRIBUTE WHAT YOU KNOW Answer quick cards about words you know, add new words and sentences, fix a lesson line or translate it, and take on bounties. New words and meanings are checked by two reviewers before they go live. COMMUNITY Follow the feed, climb the weekly leaderboard, vote on contributions, and share journal entries if you choose. Join a classroom with an invite code and work through assignments together. LEARN TOGETHER Challenge another learner to a live quiz battle, or work through a lesson as a pair. Whether you grew up hearing Izon or you are starting from zero, there is a place for you here. --- Supports iOS and iPadOS. Dark mode included.
Nihongo Sensei
Read full descriptionHide full description
Nihongo Sensei is a Japanese study app that follows the order of Minna no Nihongo, lesson by lesson. Made by a learner for other beginners, in English and Spanish. CLASSES WITH A STORY 30 guided classes that follow the Minna no Nihongo lessons, with a story running through them: Nico and Noa, a brother and sister from Barcelona, live in Japan with their dogs Hachi and Goma, and every grammar point happens inside the story. Animated scenes, Japanese audio on every sentence, the pitch line above every word, and exercises that check what you type, in kana or romaji. After each class, a practice on just that lesson; what you miss comes back in your review. MEMORIZE, WITH MNEMONICS Each lesson's words in small groups: you recognize them, recall them and check them in a sentence. Every word comes with a mnemonic, a funny sentence that sounds like the Japanese and leads you to the meaning. PARTICLES, WITH THE WHY A room for the hardest part: γ―, γ, γ, γ«, γ§, γΈ, γ¨, γγ, γΎγ§, γͺγβ¦ 24 mini-classes with Nico, Noa and friends, one for every lesson from 1 to 35 that teaches particles, and over 250 fill-the-gap sentences.
