Folengo is a language-learning app for beginners in German and English: lessons in a set order, word games, grammar rules, and dialogues and stories to read. Who it’s for • You’re starting from zero and don’t want to plan your studies yourself • You’re moving to Germany, or working or studying in a new language • You’re coming back to a language and want more vocabulary: the dictionary has words at levels A1–C1 What you can study • German and English lessons that open one at a time • Grammar rules: German has far more of them right now • Dialogues and stories to read in both languages • Words at levels A1–C1, plus expressions and constructions • Words by topic: travel, work, food, health, family life and more How a lesson works • It starts with a short intro, then moves into games • You practice words, expressions and constructions across different games • A lesson isn’t finished until you clear the final “Fix mistakes” step • Everything you cover goes into your dictionary automatically Nine games and Mix • Cards: see a word with its translation and pronunciation • Quiz: pick the correct answer out of four • Listening: listen and choose the right translation • Match the pairs: match words with their translations • True / False: decide if the translation fits the word • Build the answer: spell a word from letters or build an expression from separate words • Build the sentence: put a sentence together from its translation or by ear • Pronunciation: recall a word and say it out loud • Article: guess der, die or das (German only) • Mix: different games mixed up, a new one each time Spaced repetition • With every correct answer, a word comes back less often • The “7-day review plan” shows what’s coming up • “Review today” gathers the words that are due • “Review what you’ve covered” refreshes past lessons Grammar and reading • Short rules with examples, common mistakes and tasks • Dialogues and stories with their own characters • Open the translation of any line when you need it • Questions check how well you understood the text • Listen to a text at Slow, Standard or Fast speed Staying on track • A day streak, with freezes for days you miss • Daily tasks, XP and levels • Achievements to unlock as you study • Rankings for the week, month and year • Coins to spend on avatars and other items in the shop • Reminders at the hours you choose Languages and devices • Interface in 26 languages • Lesson content translated into English, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, French, Polish and Turkish • “Learning” and “Known” lists, your own word lists, and search and filters in the dictionary • Light and dark themes • Works on iPhone and iPad, and you can use the same account on the web at cabinet.folengo.com • Sign in with email, Google or Apple Pick German or English and start your first lesson.
