BeeBuddyAI vs Melixa

Your AI-powered beekeeping companion — from first hive to full apiary. BeeBuddy puts everything a beekeeper needs in one beautifully designed app. Whether you're setting up your first Langstroth or managing dozens of colonies across multiple apiaries, BeeBuddy helps you stay organized, make better decisions, and keep your bees thriving. APIARY & HIVE MANAGEMENT Set up apiaries with GPS coordinates, assign custom colors, and organize your hives by location. Track each hive's type (Langstroth, Top Bar, Warré, Flow), source (package, nuc, swarm, split), and status. A guided wizard makes adding new hives quick and easy. DETAILED INSPECTIONS Record inspections with flexible templates for beginners through advanced beekeepers. Log queen status, brood patterns, population estimates, honey stores, temperament, pest counts, and more. Attach photos directly from your camera. Every inspection captures a weather snapshot so you can spot patterns over time. QUEEN TRACKING Follow the international queen marking color convention. Track origin, race, quality, fertilization, clipping status, and more. Know exactly how old each queen is and when she was last seen. WEATHER-DRIVEN INSIGHTS A 7-day forecast for each apiary helps you plan ahead. BeeBuddy highlights ideal inspection windows based on temperature and conditions, warns about extreme heat or cold, and suggests when to reschedule. No more guessing — let the weather guide your schedule. SMART TASK MANAGEMENT Stay on top of seasonal beekeeping with automated task cadences. BeeBuddy generates timely reminders for inspections, feeding, pest management, and winter prep based on the season and your hemisphere. Set priorities, due dates, and mark tasks complete with a single tap. TREATMENT & HARVEST LOGS Record varroa treatments with product, method, dosage, and effectiveness notes. Log honey harvests by type, weight, moisture content, and color on the Pfund scale. Switch between metric and imperial units to match your preference. HIVE EVENT TIMELINE Track significant moments — swarms, splits, combines, requeening, feeding, and winter prep — with dates and notes. Build a complete history of each colony's lifecycle. WORKS OFFLINE BeeBuddy is built offline-first. All your data is stored locally on your device and syncs automatically when you're back online. Perfect for apiaries in areas with no cell service. BEAUTIFUL, ACCESSIBLE DESIGN A distinctive hexagonal design language inspired by the honeycomb. Full dark mode support across every screen. WCAG AA contrast ratios for readability in bright sunlight or dim conditions. Designed to be fast, intuitive, and pleasant to use — even with gloves on. PRIVACY & SECURITY Your data is yours. Sign in with email or your Apple, Google, or Microsoft account. Credentials are stored securely on-device. Open source under the Apache 2.0 license — you can inspect every line of code. BeeBuddy is free, open source, and actively developed.
