Oropen
Read full descriptionHide full description
Oropen is a powerful flashcard app for language learners, with a growing set of tools connected to your cards. The flashcards are free, unlimited and ad-free, and every review is scheduled by FSRS, the open-source spaced-repetition algorithm. The tools all work from the same cards: what you look up becomes a card, and what you review comes back in lessons and games. POWERFUL FLASHCARDS, FREE AND UNLIMITED Unlimited decks and cards with a rich-text editor, images from your camera or photo library, and audio you record or upload. Five review presets per deck, plus advanced settings for power users. Edit and review offline. ADAPTIVE REVIEW WITH FSRS Oropen schedules each card just before you would forget it, so you spend less time on words you know and more on the difficult ones. The same scheduler runs on the web and in the app, so a card keeps its schedule wherever you review it. IMPORT FROM ANKI, CSV AND EXCEL Bring your decks along: import from Anki, CSV and Excel, or photograph handwritten or printed notes and let the note scanner pull the vocabulary out for you. Export your collection with its full review history whenever you like. YOUR DATA IN YOUR OWN GOOGLE DRIVE Sync and back up your cards, media, review history and progress through your own Google Drive account โ never Oropen's servers. Free for every account (beta). READING ASSISTANT Paste, type or scan any text: translate it, see each word's meaning and role in context, and save new words to your decks without leaving the text. AI DICTIONARY Meanings by frequency, word forms, prepositions and examples, with pronunciation. It knows which words you already have, and one tap turns a lookup into a card. WRITING COACH Write sentences or full texts and get instant, color-coded corrections that explain themselves, CEFR scores across six dimensions, and statistics of your progress over time. LISTENING AND GRAMMAR TESTS Build your own listening exercises โ level (A1โC2), topic, recording length and number of speakers are yours to set โ and grammar tests on any topic. Take them under exam conditions and get a score, an explanation for every answer and the full transcript. SPEAKING PRACTICE WITH AI TEACHERS Pick a teacher and voice, say what you want to learn, add photos of your notes, and the teacher plans short guided sessions around your goal. Speak hands-free and get gentle corrections as you talk. Higher teacher levels add pronunciation feedback that names the words to work on, a live coach, and lessons woven from the vocabulary you actually reviewed. Every finished session tunes the ones ahead. VIDEO SUBTITLES Open a video you own and get timed subtitles written from its soundtrack. Tap a word to look it up and turn it into a card. WORD GAMES Match, Word Rain and Memory, played with your own cards. Playing counts as reviewing: results feed the FSRS schedule. LEARNING STATISTICS Streaks, study time, marks and progress across every tool, computed on your device. AI IMAGES AND PRONUNCIATION Generate images for your cards and natural text-to-speech audio in a choice of voices. Like the other AI tools, these run on AI Units, bought as a monthly or one-time package; the flashcards never need them. PRIVACY FIRST Your learning data lives on your device and in your own Drive. Oropen shows no ads, does not sell your personal data, and is operated from Germany under the GDPR.
