Altar vs AFM Heritage

Altar is a warm, beautifully designed Bible app built for Christians who want to read Scripture together with their church and go deeper on their own. READ THE BIBLE Open any book, chapter, and verse across four translations. Bookmark your favorite passages, highlight in five colors, and search across the entire Bible. Sermon Mode gives you large, distraction-free text perfect for following along during worship. GENERATED STUDY Tap any verse for a plain-language explanation. Ask follow-up Study Room questions. Get chapter summaries, mood-based verse suggestions, devotionals, weekly reflections, and fill-in-the-blank memorization prompts. Free users receive 3 generated study uses per day. Altar Study unlocks unlimited generated study responses. SPIRITUAL PRACTICES Lectio Divina guides you through a four-step contemplative reading with gentle timers. The Daily Examen offers a five-step evening reflection based on the Ignatian tradition. Both practices are always free. MEMORIZE SCRIPTURE Flashcard-based memorization uses spaced repetition to help you retain verses over time. Review your cards for free; Altar Study can generate new fill-in-the-blank prompts when you want extra help. READING PLANS Browse curated multi-day plans, from a 7-day journey through grief to the Bible in a Year. Track daily progress and journal your reflections. JOIN YOUR CHURCH Your pastor creates a church on Altar and shares a simple invite code. Each week they assign readings, and Altar splits them into a daily plan for your group. Check in each day and see who's reading alongside you. CHURCH COMMUNITY Read announcements from your pastor. Watch linked sermons. Post prayer requests to a moderated prayer wall. View upcoming church events. Stay connected between Sundays. SERMON STUDIES When your pastor posts a sermon, Altar can prepare a cached 5-day study guide drawn directly from the sermon's Scripture references so your small group can go deeper all week. THE GARDEN Watch a botanical garden grow as you build a daily reading habit. New flowers, birds, butterflies, and paths unlock as milestones. Your garden never wilts; it just pauses when you do. PRIVACY No ads. No third-party tracking. Your reading activity is stored securely to power your personal stats and church group features.
