Phonics Play & Read makes learning to read fun and easy for young children. Designed for ages 3-8, the app teaches phonics through interactive lessons, hands-on games, and delightful stories, all in a safe, ad-free environment. PRIVACY No adverts. No analytics. No accounts, no sign-up, no data collection of any kind. Nothing your child does leaves the iPad. There is no third-party software in this app at all. It starts with the sound each letter makes and helps your child read get on the path to whole stories on their own. In between there is a path: one clear next thing to do, every time they open the app, so nobody has to decide what to practise. A GUIDED PATH 16 stages, from the alphabet to the first 100 words. Each stage mixes lessons, games and a story, and finishes with a short checkpoint so you can see the learning has stuck. Nothing is timed and nothing is ever lost a checkpoint that does not go well can be tried again straight away. WHAT IS INSIDE - 173 lessons: every letter sound, short vowel words, digraphs, blends, long vowels, and the 100 words that make up half of everything your child will read - 60 stories in six levels, every one read aloud in a warm human voice - 12 games, including tracing letters in the night sky, catching falling sounds in a bucket, and building words from bubbles - Comprehension questions after every story, because reading the words is only half of reading BUILT FOR SMALL CHILDREN FOR THE GROWN-UPS A parent area behind a simple gate shows which sounds your child is finding tricky, not just how many stars they have. You can open the whole path if your child already knows their letters, set the difficulty, switch on a dyslexia-friendly typeface, and save a copy of everything they have earned so a new iPad never loses it. WHAT IS FREE The whole first stage all 26 letters and their sounds is free, along with the first three stories and every game. A subscription opens the rest of the path, all 60 stories and unlimited play. Monthly and annual subscriptions are available. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period; manage or cancel in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. India's first AI Reading Coach for kids. Hears every word your child reads. Teaches what they miss. In Indian English. Your child reads a real storybook out loud, from a library of 100+ levelled stories. ZigZu listens to every word. The moment they get stuck, it stops, breaks the word into its sounds, and has them try again, the way their school teaches it. Built for ages 4 to 8: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Free for 7 days. No payment needed to start. WHAT MAKES ZIGZU DIFFERENT Most reading apps show your child a story and hope. ZigZu actually listens. It follows every word your child says out loud, in real time, and it knows the difference between a word they read and a word they guessed. That is the part a busy parent cannot always catch, and the part a class of forty never will. HOW IT WORKS 1. Your child opens a story and starts reading aloud. 2. ZigZu listens to every word. 3. Stuck on a word? ZigZu teaches it back, sound by sound. 4. Stickers, daily streaks and progress your child can feel. PHONICS, THE WAY YOUR SCHOOL TEACHES IT The same method Indian English-medium schools use, whether your child's school follows Jolly Phonics, Letterland or its own programme. - All 42 letter sounds, with audio - Blending, c-a-t into cat - Decoding words nobody has taught them yet - Sight words, the ones that never sound out - Indian English pronunciation throughout NINE READING LEVELS, ONE STEP AT A TIME 1. Starting Reader. First sounds: s, a, t 2. Emergent Reader. Short vowels: cat, pin 3. Beginning Reader. Letter teams: sh, ch, th 4. Developing Reader. Blends: str, pl, nk 5. Transitional Reader. Vowel teams: ee, oo, ai 6. Fluent Reader. Magic-e: cake, bike 7. Skilled Reader. R-controlled vowels: car, bird 8. Expanding Reader. Gliding vowels: coin, cloud 9. Independent Reader. Longer words: rocket, jumping Your child moves up when they are ready, not when the calendar says so. WHAT YOU WILL SEE AS A PARENT The Parents section shows the words your child read cleanly, the ones they missed, the stories they finished and the sounds they are working on now. You know what to practise tonight without sitting through the whole book. If a book feels too easy or too hard, you can change the level yourself. SAFE, AD-FREE, KIDS-FIRST - No ads, ever - Nothing is ever sold to your child inside a reading session - No chat, no social features, no links out - Works on older iPhones and iPads You can hand over the phone and walk away. WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING "Can I do ZigZu instead of YouTube today?" Kavir, age 5, Mumbai "My child has started enjoying reading" Anaya, age 6, Delhi "Practice questions under phonics section helps my child to practice each sound" Vyom, age 5, Jaipur ABOUT ZIGZU ZigZu is built in India by ANA PlayLabs Global, for Indian children, around Indian English, Indian classrooms and the way Indian parents actually parent.
