NxtSteps vs InsectLens

NxtSteps is a college preperation app designed to enable students to become more educated and prepared for college applications.

Photograph an insect to explore its likely name, identifying traits and life cycle. InsectLens brings those details together with habitat and garden-role information, helping you learn more about the small creatures you notice. Meet the small creature Take a photo or choose one from your library to explore common and scientific names. Compare the identifying features and correct a match when needed. Follow its life cycle Explore its traits, diet, habitat and life cycle. Connect the profile with your own observation. Understand its garden role Read about pollination, plant damage and other effects. Learn how the species fits into the garden around you. Read reported hazards Read about reported bites, stings, irritation and other hazards. Keep the details you want to revisit with your observation. Photograph a bite mark to review possible causes, general care guidance and signs that need medical attention. Photo bite checks share your initial identification allowance and require paid access once it is used; the first-aid card remains free. Keep an observation journal Save an unlocked result, add notes and organize items in folders. Revisit your saved details and identification history as you explore. Learn with 12 guides Read 12 topic guides in step-by-step pages, alongside other in-app articles. No subscription is needed to read the guides. Ask your next question Open the assistant from the result page to ask follow-up questions and keep learning. Usage limits are shown in the app. Read the safety note This is an educational identification and reference tool, not a professional or safety authority. Photo matches can be wrong, and details may be incomplete; missing risk information does not mean safe. Do not use the app to decide whether anything can be eaten or safely handled. Verify important identifications independently and follow local rules. Garden-role information is not a pest-control recommendation for a particular infestation. Bite check results are AI-generated and are not medical advice; bite photos cannot diagnose a condition or reliably identify the insect; do not delay medical care while waiting for a result. Understand your privacy We use PostHog for limited product analytics and AppsFlyer to measure installations and ads for our apps. Eligible event data may be shared with Meta for advertising measurement and optimization under applicable privacy controls. Photos go to our recognition service and Google's AI models to identify or check them. They are not used for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for details. Explore access and purchases Explore with an initial allowance of complete photo-identification results. Once it is used, parts of new results are locked and a paid upgrade is offered. Availability and limits are shown in the app. Paid access applies to this app. Check the purchase screen for available options, prices, trial eligibility and usage limits. A trial, if offered, depends on eligibility. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled; manage or cancel them in your App Store account settings.
