DynaSynth
This virtual instrument plugin offers a unique sound synthesis experience with dual analog-flavored oscillators. Its dynamic modulation system allows for complex sonic textures that evolve with the sound itself. It's compatible with AU hosts and can be used standalone with a MIDI device.
- Dynamic shape synthesizer

DynaSynth Dynamic Shape Synthesizer (AUv3) DynaSynth is a virtual instrument plugin that can run standalone, or in any AU compatible host such as Logic Pro or GarageBand. Please note that the standalone version does not include a built-in keyboard - you need to connect a suitable MIDI device to play the synth. Overview DynaSynth is an original design based on variable shaped dual analog-flavoured oscillators for each of its 8 voices, that uses its own output to modulate parameters dynamically. This can produce interesting sonic results that would be very difficult, if not impossible to achieve using traditional fixed LFOs and envelopes. That's because: As the sound changes, so does the modulation amount, which changes the sound, which affects the modulation amount... Dynamic / Modulation & Display At the top of the UI is a realtime display of "dynamics", wave shapes and all the modulation being applied. The (D) dynamics indicator is essentially an envelope follower with variable damping that is used as a modulation source for the oscillator shapes (1/2), vibrato (v) and filter (f) cutoff. MIDI Implementation DynaSynth is an 8 voice polyphonic velocity-sensitive MIDI instrument and is playable over a keyboard range from A0 (21) to C7 (96) on any MIDI channel. DynaSynth also responds to mod wheel, expression (CC#11), sustain (CC#64), channel aftertouch, all notes off (CC#123) and pitch-bend. DynaSynth vs. DynaSinth While they can be confusing, the names are very similar on purpose, representing a shared design theme, i.e. a synth that is dynamic. The DynaSynth design actually came first, and it is based on fairly traditional analog-flavoured oscillators. DynaSinth shares the same dynamics engine but with a modified set of parameters designed to complement the sound of its sine wave oscillators. While I like to think both synths have their own character, and can sound fairly unique, DynaSynth is probably more capable of producing familiar analog synth tones, and DynaSinth lends itself more to keys and pads. Both synths are also good for those who like to experiment with "out there" / "Sci-Fi" type sounds, and DynaSynth is probably better suited for that sort of thing. PO-PatchStudio designs drum sounds, kits and patterns for Teenage Engineering's PO-32 Tonic, then sends them to your Pocket Operator over sound. Free, with no ads and no account. The PO-32 has no USB data connection. It loads new sounds the way an old modem does, by listening through its microphone. So this app does the fiddly part on a proper screen: build a kit, hold your phone next to the PO-32 and press play. WHAT YOU CAN DO - Shape all 16 sounds with the full set of 21 synth parameters, plus both ends of the morph - Program 16-step patterns on the pads, with accents, and hear them before you send - Send a whole kit, a single sound or a pattern to the PO-32 over audio - Back up your PO-32: record its data dump through the microphone and the app decodes it into a kit you can edit - Import Microtonic .mtdrum and .mtpreset patches, including files from older versions of Microtonic, and export your sounds back out - Keep kits, sounds and patterns in a local library with tags and favourites WORKS WITH - PO-32 Tonic - Also sends drum sounds to the PO-35 Speak's built-in Tonic channel HOW TRANSFER WORKS Put the PO-32 in receive mode (press acc + sound), turn your phone's volume up and play the transfer into the PO-32's mic. To back up, start recording in the app, then hold write and press sound on the PO-32. Previews come from an open-source recreation of the PO-32's synth, so they sound close to the hardware but not identical. Once a sound is on the PO-32, it plays through the device's own engine. A NOTE FROM ME I'm a solo developer and a PO-32 owner. PO-PatchStudio stands on the open-source libpo32 library by Eric Lewis and years of reverse-engineering by the Pocket Operator community, which is why it's free. If something is missing or broken, tell me. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Teenage Engineering AB or NuEdge Development AB. Pocket Operator, PO-32 and Tonic are trademarks of Teenage Engineering AB. Microtonic is a trademark of NuEdge Development AB.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: PO at Free against DynaSynth's $2.99. DynaSynth's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ratings volume (3 vs 1). On rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

PO is free to download; DynaSynth costs $2.99 up front. PO sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. DynaSynth asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for DynaSynth against 5.0 for PO. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 1 respectively.
