Okaeshi vs Calc Plus

In Japan, when you receive a gift for a wedding, a new baby, or a condolence, you're expected to send a return gift — called okaeshi — at the right amount and within the right timeframe. Get it wrong and you risk a social misstep. Okaeshi makes sure that never happens. HOW IT WORKS Log the gift you received, who gave it, and the occasion. Okaeshi instantly calculates the correct return amount and sets a deadline based on Japanese etiquette rules. You'll get reminders as the deadline approaches so nothing slips through. 8 OCCASION TYPES - Wedding return gifts (結婚内祝い) - Birth celebration returns (出産内祝い) - Bereavement / koden returns (香典返し) - Recovery celebration (快気祝い) - School entry (入学内祝い) - Coming of age (成人内祝い) - Employment celebration (就職内祝い) - New home (新築内祝い) SMART RETURN CALCULATOR Each occasion has its own etiquette rules. Okaeshi knows whether the standard is a half-return, a third-return, or something in between — and calculates the exact target range from what you received. DEADLINE COUNTDOWN & REMINDERS Every obligation gets an automatic deadline based on the occasion. Choose from 14-day, 7-day, 3-day, and 1-day reminders. For bereavement returns, a special 49th-day (四十九日) reminder is included. GIFT SUGGESTIONS Not sure what to send back? Okaeshi suggests appropriate return gifts for each occasion and budget, with both Japanese and English names. ETIQUETTE GUIDE Each obligation includes an etiquette note explaining the customs, timing, and expectations — so you always know the "why" behind the amount and deadline.
