Bamlis transcribes audio and video files to text entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on a server, and there are no accounts or subscriptions. WHAT IT DOES ⢠Transcribes audio files, voice memos and the audio track of videos (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, FLV and more). ⢠Finnish by default, with English, Swedish, German, French, Spanish and many other languages. ⢠Two engines: WhisperKit (OpenAI Whisper on Core ML) for the best accuracy and punctuation, or Apple's built-in speech recognition. ⢠Identifies speakers automatically and lets you rename them, one segment or all at once. ⢠Plays the recording back with the current sentence highlighted; tap a sentence to jump there. ⢠Edit the text in place and fix speaker labels. ⢠Record directly on iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch. Watch recordings are sent to your iPhone for transcription, and the Apple Watch Ultra Action button can start and stop recording. ⢠Queue several files at once. ⢠Search across all your transcripts. ⢠Transcripts sync between your devices through your own iCloud. EXPORT FOR EVERY USE ⢠Text with paragraphs, for word processing ⢠Text without speaker names, for your own notes ⢠Text with timestamps, for reading and analysis ⢠Subtitles (.srt) with sentence-based cues, for video editing ⢠Spreadsheet (.csv), for analysis PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your audio and your text never leave the device. The only network use is downloading the speech models once from Hugging Face (several hundred megabytes) and your own iCloud sync. The first transcription after installing takes a few minutes while the model is prepared; after that it is fast. Bamlis is free and built on open source models and software (WhisperKit, SpeakerKit, Whisper, pyannote).
