Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Playrate at 5 against CharCraft's 1. On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Playrate sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and CharCraft sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Playrate against 5.0 for CharCraft. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Playrate has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
