Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: MapJour at none against Planit's 1. Planit's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 3 weeks) and ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Planit sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. MapJour asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Planit against 5.0 for MapJour. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Planit has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.
Planit ships an update daily, MapJour every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
