Vertical Jump: Hang Time measures your vertical jump from a video of the jump itself. Mark the frame your feet leave the ground and the frame they land, and the flight time between them becomes your jump height in centimeters or inches. ▶ VIDEO MODE — FRAME BY FRAME • Record with the camera or import a clip you already filmed • Scrub the timeline and step ±1 or ±10 frames to find the exact takeoff and landing • Height comes from flight time with the standard formula h = g·t²/8 • Slow-motion clips: most videos play in real time, so the default is "As recorded". If your clip plays the jump slowed down, choose Slow-mo ¼ (120 fps) or Slow-mo ⅛ (240 fps) and confirm both marks are inside the slowed part • A flight longer than 1.0 second is flagged instead of saved, so a slowed clip cannot turn into an impossible number • Tag each jump as Standing or Approach ▶ QUICK TEST — NO CAMERA • Hold the phone flat against your chest with both hands and jump 3 times • The motion sensor spots the airborne phase and the landing impact of each jump • The screen shows when you are in the air, and a grip tip appears if no jump is found after 12 seconds • You get each jump plus the average; stop early and one or two valid jumps still give a result • Quick Test is approximate. For a more precise number, use video mode ▶ DUNK CALCULATOR • Enter your standing reach and your vertical, or fill in your saved record with one tap • Pick a 10 ft, 9 ft or 8 ft rim • See how far short you are, or how much you clear the rim by, with 15 cm (about 6 in) of clearance built in ▶ RECORDS • Personal record overall, plus separate Standing and Approach records • Average and a bar chart of your latest jumps • Full history with the method used for each jump • Share a clean result card image ▶ HOW TO FILM A GOOD CLIP Film from the side with your feet in frame and the phone held still. A slow-motion clip gives finer steps between frames. Mark the first frame both feet are off the ground and the first frame a foot touches down. ▶ HONEST LIMITS Results depend on how precisely you mark takeoff and landing, and on landing the way you took off (no tucking your knees). Quick Test is an estimate from the motion sensor. All measuring happens on your device and videos stay on your device. This is a training tool, not a medical device.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Vertical Jump at none against JumpAnalysis's 1. Vertical Jump also leads on iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.2). JumpAnalysis's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). On price and device support there is nothing between them.
