About

stdout. is a native iOS client for Hacker News, built from the ground up with SwiftUI. It goes far beyond content aggregation β€” offering a rich, interactive experience designed around how you actually read. DUAL THEMES Switch between two handcrafted visual modes. Zen offers warm, editorial typography with Georgia serif headlines. Terminal transforms the app into a retro green-on-black CRT aesthetic, complete with monospaced type and animated scanlines. OFFLINE-FIRST WITH SWIFTDATA Stories and comments are cached locally so the app loads instantly on launch. When your connection drops, you keep reading seamlessly with a subtle offline indicator. HOME SCREEN WIDGETS Add a Top Stories widget to your home screen in Small or Medium size. The widget updates every 30 minutes and matches your in-app theme. Tap any story to jump straight to it. NATIVE INTERACTIONS Long-press any story to save it to Favorites, share the link, or hide it from your feed. Pull-to-refresh and save actions are accompanied by haptic feedback for a tactile, responsive feel. IN-APP READING Story links open in a themed Safari View Controller with optional Reader Mode β€” no context switching to external apps.

About

Orange Reader for HN

Features

HN Reader is a fast, focused reader for Hacker News. EIGHT FEEDS Top, New, Best, Ask, Show, Jobs β€” plus Past, the front page for any day back to 2006, and Comments, every new comment on the site as it lands. SEARCH EVERYTHING Search across every story ever posted, not just what is on the page. THE WHOLE THREAD, AT ONCE A discussion loads in a single request, however long it is. Collapse any branch with a tap; colored rails show how deep you are. ARTICLE OR DISCUSSION Every story has two views, one switch: read the article inside the app, or the thread. Share either. Open in your browser any time. PROFILES Tap any name: karma, join date, about, and their submissions, comments and public favorites. SAVE FOR LATER Bookmark a story and it lives on your phone, with no account and nothing sent anywhere. MADE TO BE READ Light and dark, four text sizes, six languages (English, EspaΓ±ol, Italiano, FranΓ§ais, Deutsch, Русский). Animations that answer your finger. No reading history leaves your device, and ads appear only on the Saved and Settings screens, never over what you are reading. HN Reader is an independent app and is not affiliated with Y Combinator. Hacker News is a trademark of Y Combinator. Version 1 is a reader: signing in to vote and reply is not included.
