About

Bitempo

⌚ Requires an Apple Watch. The iPhone app is for your history and settings. Overeating usually isn't about eating too much. It's about eating too fast. Fullness takes about twenty minutes to reach the brain. How much you put away during those twenty minutes decides whether a meal ends at "just right" or "a bit too much." So Bitempo ignores how much you eat and does one thing instead: it slows you down. ■ Your watch counts every bite Put on your Apple Watch and tap Start Meal. The motion of lifting your hand to your mouth is recognised by a model running on the watch itself — nothing to press, nothing to log, no photos. It all happens on the device, and nothing is uploaded. ■ Chew it through before the next one This is the heart of it. Pick a chew time in Settings, anywhere from ten to thirty seconds. With each bite the mascot eats along with you, chews, and swallows; on iPhone a slim progress bar runs underneath until the time is up. Go faster than the pace you set and your wrist taps to say so. At the end of a meal you see your average seconds per bite. That number is far more honest than a bite count. ■ How full you got is yours to say A big bite and a small one can differ twofold, so converting bites into fullness is guaranteed to be wrong. We hand that judgement back to you: after the meal, drag the slider anywhere from 30% to 100% full, and the mascot changes expression with it. Once you have logged three meals, it offers an estimate based on your own portions. Forgot to fill it in? Open that meal in your history any time. iPhone and watch stay in sync. ■ A little companion at the table The mascot is hand-drawn, frame by frame. You take a bite, it takes a bite; you chew, it chews; you swallow, so does it. The face it wears at the end of a meal depends on the score you gave. ■ Quiet by design Apart from one nudge at each of the three mealtimes you set, it sends no notifications at all. No ads, no feed, no leaderboards. ■ About the subscription The free plan records one meal a day, up to thirty minutes per meal. Pro removes both limits and includes every future update, available monthly, yearly, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app. Subscriptions renew automatically within 24 hours of the period ending. Manage or cancel any time in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.
