The measurement has no set end: it runs until you stop it. This is not a few-second test, it is a monitor. BOTH DIRECTIONS AT ONCE Download and upload have independent controls. With both directions on at the same time, download drops. That is the network in real use, not its capacity โ to measure capacity, run one direction at a time. SEVERAL SERVERS, IN PARALLEL It measures against several servers at once. Your device picks which, by each one's latency before starting โ and the number of servers grows while that keeps improving the rate. The screen shows how much each one is delivering. THE NUMBER SAYS WHERE IT CAME FROM The number comes from the shortest valid window, and the screen says which: 10 s, 1 min or 5 min. On a slow link the window has to be longer for the number to mean anything. YOU CHOOSE WHERE TO MEASURE Automatic or a specific country, with favourite servers that always take part. A MEASURED ZERO IS A MEASUREMENT A measured zero is a measurement, not an error. If the connection drops mid-run, the chart shows the zero and measuring continues: the drop is part of what is being measured. WHAT IT COSTS IS IN PLAIN SIGHT On mobile data this eats your allowance fast, because it does not stop on its own. The app asks before measuring off Wi-Fi, and the counter on each card shows what was measured. After each measurement a technical record is sent to improve the meter โ with no account, no device identifier and no IP address of yours. Details in the privacy policy. No sign-up and no ads.

Check slow Wi-Fi with download and upload tests, ping checks and the network traffic observed by your iPhone. TEST MORE THAN DOWNLOAD SPEED Watch the speedometer respond to measured throughput. Each download and upload phase targets at least 10 seconds. Check idle and loaded latency, jitter, TCP connection-probe loss, and consistency to understand how your connection behaves during a test. Measurements depend on your network and the test server. CHECK PING BEFORE YOU PLAY Test public endpoints associated with popular games, streaming services, and websites. See reachability, latency, jitter, and consistency together. These are TCP connection checks, not private game-server ping, ICMP packet-loss tests, or playback-quality measurements. SEE LIVE TRAFFIC AND OBSERVED DATA USAGE View download and upload activity in bits or bytes per second. Review Wi-Fi and cellular traffic observed by NetBar, with daily and monthly charts. Observed usage is not a complete carrier bill, router total, or per-app report. KEEP A USEFUL HISTORY Review recent results locally on your iPhone. NetBar Pro adds retained history, comparisons, custom public targets, and CSV export for a closer look at your connection over time. LATEST READINGS AT A GLANCE Start a Live Activity to see the latest measured rates on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island on supported iPhones. iOS can suspend background apps: readings are marked stale when NetBar cannot take new measurements. This is not continuous monitoring while the app is closed. START FREE. UPGRADE ONCE. Get 3 successful speed tests per day, 7 days of history, built-in service checks, and live traffic readings. Optional NetBar Pro is a one-time purchase for unlimited successful tests, retained history, comparisons, custom public targets, CSV export, and ad removal. No subscription is required. NO ACCOUNT OR VPN REQUIRED Results stay on your device. NetBar does not inspect packet contents, browsing history, or individual app activity. Tests contact public providers and transfer real data, potentially substantial amounts on fast connections. The free version displays Google AdMob banners in History; privacy choices are provided where required. See the privacy policy for provider and advertising data handling. NetBar is not affiliated with or endorsed by the services whose public endpoints it checks. The interface supports English, Hindi, Spanish, French, and German.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Real Net Speed at none against NetBar's 1. Real Net Speed also leads on ads (none vs shown) and device support (3 vs 1). On price and update cadence there is nothing between them.
