Frequency Counter Hz Tuner vs Frequency Analyzer
Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both apps, side by side — with what reviewers say about each.
Frequency Counter Hz Tuner
This app transforms your iPhone into a powerful audio analyzer. It offers four distinct modes to measure sound frequencies, tune instruments, analyze motor speeds, and check mains stability. Advanced features include measurement history, comparison tools, and CSV export.
- Dominant frequency measurement (Hz)
- Instrument tuning with note and pitch display
- Motor RPM analysis
- 50/60 Hz mains hum detection
- Measurement history and trend charts
- CSV export of measurements

Frequency Counter Hz Tuner combines guided instrument tuning with a microphone-based Hz meter, measurement history, tone tools, and an ultrasonic scanner. Use the new guided flow to tune a guitar or ukulele one string at a time, or open the meter when you want to inspect the dominant frequency in a sound. GUIDED GUITAR AND UKULELE TUNING Choose guitar or ukulele and work through the strings in order. The guide listens to each string separately. When fresh readings stay within ±5 cents long enough to meet the stability check, the Confirm button becomes available. Tap it to save that string as verified. Each confirmed string records the observed Hz value, cents offset, and verification time. If you stop before finishing, the app saves the partial session and can offer to continue it after relaunch. INSTRUMENT TUNER The tuner includes standard string targets for guitar, bass, ukulele, and violin. Adjust the A4 reference when your tuning setup calls for a different reference. Guided string-by-string sessions are available for guitar and ukulele; the other instrument targets remain available in the regular tuner. DOMINANT FREQUENCY METER Use the microphone to view the dominant frequency of a sound in Hz. Select Auto, Music, Motor, or Hum mode to match the kind of reading you want to inspect. The meter and tuner provide distinct views, so you can move between a general Hz reading and instrument-focused pitch information without leaving the app. MEASUREMENT HISTORY Keep up to 500 measurement records for later reference. Add a note to identify a sound or session, and mark useful records as favorites. The history screen makes it easier to return to selected readings instead of relying on memory or separate notes. TONE AND SWEEP TOOLS Generate sine, square, triangle, or sawtooth waves from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Use a steady tone when you need one frequency, or use sweep mode to move through a range. These controls are grouped in the Tone screen and can support listening, instrument, and audio experiments. ULTRASONIC SCANNER Scan the 17–24 kHz band, view the detected peak and a source hint, and review the recent detection log. Microphone response differs by device, especially at high frequencies, so the scanner does not promise that every phone can cover the entire band. A PRACTICAL MULTI-TOOL FOR SOUND • Tune guitar or ukulele with a guided string sequence • Continue a saved partial tuning session after relaunch • Use standard targets for guitar, bass, ukulele, and violin • Read dominant sound frequency in Hz through the microphone • Choose Auto, Music, Motor, or Hum meter modes • Keep measurement records with notes and favorites • Generate four waveform types in tone or sweep mode • Inspect peaks and recent events in the ultrasonic band Microphone permission is required for listening features. Readings and high-frequency coverage depend on the microphone, device hardware, the sound source, and the surrounding environment. The app is designed as an audio measurement, listening, and instrument-tuning aid.

Turn your iPhone into a calibrated sound level meter, spectrum analyzer, and noise dosimeter. Built for fieldwork, inspections, and everyday measurements. Whether you are tuning a room, surveying noise on a job site, or checking workplace exposure, Frequency Analyzer gives you the data you need. REAL-TIME SOUND LEVEL METER - Live SPL readout with A, C, and Z weighting plus linear response - Fast (125 ms), Slow (1 s), and custom time averaging - Min, max, average, peak, and LAeq displayed continuously - Configurable reference calibration so your readings match a known source SPECTRUM AND SPECTROGRAM - Real-time FFT spectrum from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, linear or logarithmic axis - Scrolling spectrogram with selectable colormap and peak-hold markers - Octave-band view at 1/1, 1/3, 1/6, or 1/12 resolution - Classic oscilloscope waveform with adjustable time window - Amplitude-over-time history for slow trends across hours NOISE DOSIMETER Track noise exposure against NIOSH and OSHA criteria or a custom standard you define. The app accumulates dose throughout your shift, projects your 8-hour exposure, and reports the time-weighted average. Add event notes and export a PDF report with stats and graphs. REPORTS AND EXPORT - Reference tone generator from 20 Hz to 20 kHz for signal checks - CSV time-series exports for spreadsheets and analysis tools - Spectrogram PNG snapshots at configurable resolution - PDF reports with session statistics, charts, and event markers - Calibration and preferences stored locally on your device PRIVATE BY DESIGN Everything runs on your device. There is no account, no login, and microphone audio does not leave your phone. Sessions, notes, calibration data, and preferences stay in local storage. HOW TO USE 1. Grant microphone access and run the quick calibration walkthrough 2. Choose Analyzer, dB Meter, or Dosimeter from the tab bar 3. Use spectrum, spectrogram, waveform, octave, or amplitude history 4. Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Frequency Analyzer at 5.0 against Frequency Counter Hz Tuner's 3.3. Frequency Analyzer also leads on ads (none vs shown). Frequency Counter Hz Tuner's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and update cadence (every 4 days vs fortnightly). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
