Fiber Color Chart The Fiber Color Chart tab is the fastest way to identify any strand in a ribbon fiber cable โ no laminated card, no guessing, no wasted time on the job. Instant Strand Lookup Select your cable size from the picker at the top and every tube, ribbon, and strand maps out instantly below. Standard ribbon cables from 144F to 1728F are fully supported, as are high-density Micro Fiber cables from 12F to 864F. Need a non-standard count? Build a Custom Cable by entering any total fiber count and buffer configuration โ the chart generates on the fly. Search by Strand Number Type any strand number into the search bar and the app pinpoints exactly which tube and ribbon it lives in โ not just for the current cable, but across every standard and micro cable size simultaneously. Results show the tube color, ribbon position, and strand color following TIA-598 conventions, with the matching cell highlighted and scrolled into view automatically. Color-Coded Tube Cards Each buffer tube is displayed as a card showing its TIA-598 color identity, black-stripe count (for tubes beyond the first 12), and a full ribbon breakdown. Tubes collapse and expand individually so you can focus on the buffer you care about. On iPad, the cable picker and stats panel sit side-by-side with the tube list for a true two-column workflow. At-a-Glance Stats Below the cable picker, a stats row shows the total fiber count, number of ribbons, buffer count, and fibers per ribbon โ confirming at a glance that the cable you selected matches what's in front of you. Recent Lookups A scrollable recents bar remembers the cable sizes you looked at last, so switching between the two cables on a splice tray is a single tap rather than re-navigating the picker every time. Bookmarked Strands Any strand can be starred and saved to the Favorites tab with a custom label. Bookmarked strands deep-link back into the chart โ tapping one scrolls directly to the correct tube, expands it, and highlights the exact strand cell. TIA-598 Compliant All color assignments follow the TIA-598 fiber color standard: Blue, Orange, Green, Brown, Slate, White, Red, Black, Yellow, Violet, Rose, Aqua โ in order, with black-stripe cycling applied correctly for cables with more than 12 ribbons per buffer.
Optical Toolkit
Read full descriptionHide full description
The Optical Toolkit is a professional reference app for optical networking engineers โ the calculators, quick conversions, reference data, and OTDR trace handling you reach for every day, in one place that works fully offline. WHY THIS APP EXISTS It came from personal need. As a working optical engineer I kept needing a quick OSNR check, a unit conversion, a standards value, or a fast look at a .sor trace โ and kept reaching for scattered spreadsheets, PDFs, and laptop tools. So I built the toolkit I wanted in my own pocket, and I am sharing it free so every engineer, student, and enthusiast who works with fiber can take advantage of it. CALCULATORS โ 47 TOOLS Link design: OSNR span design with FEC presets, EOL budget, nonlinear phase, Raman hybrid noise figure, GOSNR combining, rise-time budget, SBS/SRS thresholds, fiber mode and cutoff, extinction-ratio penalty, and Shannon capacity with modulation targets. DWDM: coherent rate and OSNR planning, guard-band planning with vendor rules, channel capacity by band, and ITU grid tools. Converters: dBm/mW, OSNR/SNR, wavelength/frequency, and more. Every input carries units, ranges, and engineering presets; results include pass/fail verdicts and margins. OTDR TRACES ON YOUR PHONE Open .sor trace files directly. The reader decodes fixed parameters, key events, and data points, draws the trace with color-coded event markers, and produces an analysis report: span length, total loss, ORL, event classification against thresholds, and recommendations. FULL REFERENCE LIBRARY 59 reference tables โ fiber standards (G.652 through G.657) side by side, coherent scaling laws, guard-band thumb rules, a channel quick database, transceiver formats โ plus a 394-term glossary, 427 alarm definitions with troubleshooting, 550 specification parameters, and a master search across everything. BUILT FOR THE FIELD Everything works offline โ airplane mode included. No account, no tracking, no analytics. SOR files are parsed on the device and never uploaded. Light and dark themes, adjustable fonts and text size, and favorites to pin the tools you use daily. Made by MapYourTech for optical, DWDM, and DCI engineers, students, and NOC teams.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Optical Toolkit at Free against FiberView's $1.99. FiberView's advantage is chart position (#146 vs unranked). On ads, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
