Track what you eat. Learn what you burn. Tare is a calorie and macro tracker that runs on your iPhone and stays there. No account to create, no ads, no analytics. Your food log lives on your device and, if you want it to, in your own iCloud. One payment. No subscription. EVERY DAY • Log food from three sources — a built-in food index that works offline, USDA FoodData Central, and Open Food Facts — or scan a barcode, or point your camera at a nutrition label • Watch calories, protein, carbs, and fat fill against your goals as the day goes on • Build your own foods, recipes, and meal templates once, then log them in a tap • Sort your day into meal categories you name, color, and order yourself • Track water with quick-add buttons sized to your own glass BEYOND CALORIES • Over 20 vitamins and minerals tracked alongside your macros, each against its daily value • Short on iron, calcium, protein, or fiber? Tap it and Tare tells you what to eat to close the gap, ranked from your own foods first • Already on target? The same tap shows which foods got you there TARGETS THAT KEEP UP • Tare learns what you actually burn from your weight trend and what you log, then suggests new targets each week. You accept them or you don't • Body fat from a smart scale lets it tell muscle from fat, so a recomposition stops reading as standing still • Your weight is smoothed into a trend, so one heavy dinner doesn't read as a setback FASTING AND SUPPLEMENTS • Run a fasting schedule with a Lock Screen timer, and correct a fast that started or ended at the wrong moment • Keep supplements in timing groups with reminders, and log the water you take them with WORKOUTS (BETA) • Log sets, reps, and weight with a rest timer on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and log the next set from there • Start the workout Up Next builds from your gym's equipment, your goal, your time, and which muscles have recovered — and see why it chose each exercise — or save your own • 600+ exercises with how-to animations, and a muscle figure that shows what each workout trained • Records per exercise, Apple Watch workouts in History, Fitbod import, and finished workouts written to Apple Health • Off by default: turn it on in Profile → Workouts. Needs iOS 26.4 REPORTS AND CHECK-INS • Weight, body composition, calories, macros, and micronutrients over one, three, or six months • A daily check-in on energy, mood, sleep, and hunger, and what those move with ON YOUR WRIST AND HOME SCREEN • Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for calories and macros • Apple Watch logs water and supplements, shows your day, your fast, and the set you are on during a workout, with a calorie ring complication IN YOUR LANGUAGE • English, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, and Polish — every screen, number, and reminder, on iPhone, widgets, and Apple Watch • Food search understands all five: the built-in food index knows everyday foods by their names in each language • It opens in your iPhone's language, and you can change it in Profile → Language & Region • Translations are built into the app. Choosing a language sends nothing anywhere PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION • No account, no tracking, no advertising or analytics frameworks • Sync runs through your own iCloud account, which we cannot read • Apple Health is optional, and every data type is permitted separately • Export everything you have recorded as CSV, whenever you like One purchase. No subscription. No ads. iPhone, iPad, watch. Tare is not a medical device and does not provide medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. Food data comes from USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts and is provided as-is. Exercise data by RepDB (repdb.co).

Track your menstrual cycle and fertility in complete privacy. PearPetal keeps your data on your own phone - no account, no server, no cloud. Not even we can see it. Your cycle blooms on a living petal dial: a flower that furls and opens as you move through your cycle, so a glance tells you your phase, your fertile window, and when your next period is due. KEY FEATURES - Private by design: your full cycle log lives only on your own devices, never on a server, unless you choose to add a seeder you run or trust. A seeder keeps your devices in sync when they are not online together, holds only an encrypted copy and cannot read it. It is off unless you turn it on - The petal dial: a signature flower that tracks your phase across the cycle, plus a month calendar view - On-device predictions: next period, fertile window, and ovulation are computed on your phone from your own history - never sent anywhere - Log what matters: period start and flow, symptoms, mood, notes, and basal body temperature (BBT) - Goals that change the tone: general tracking, trying to conceive, avoiding, or a dedicated pregnancy mode - Cycle-aware for your body: enter conditions (like PCOS, endometriosis, thyroid) or birth control and predictions adjust - Share with a partner, on your terms: give a partner a scoped, read-only view - cycle phase only, your fertile window, or your full cycle - and end it any time - Gentle reminders: optional local notifications for your period or fertile days, with a discreet mode that hides the wording on your lock screen - Backups you control: export an encrypted, password-protected backup file to move to a new phone; nothing is ever uploaded - No accounts: your identity is a cryptographic key pair generated on your device - No data collection: PeerLoom, Apple, and no third party ever sees your cycle HOW IT WORKS PearPetal uses peer-to-peer technology powered by Hypercore Protocol. Your own devices - and a partner you have shared with - find each other and sync directly, device to device, with no middleman. All sync traffic is encrypted end to end, and every entry is cryptographically signed by the device that wrote it. The privacy boundary is structural, not a promise. Your full private log and anything you share with a partner live in two separate, separately-encrypted stores. The private log replicates only across your own devices. A partner share carries only the slice you consent to, written by you and read-only for your partner. Predictions are computed on your device and never cross the wire. Ending a share stops it going forward. PRIVACY - No accounts or sign-up required - No analytics, tracking, or telemetry - No third-party SDKs - All sync traffic is end-to-end encrypted - Your cycle data stays on your own devices, never uploaded anywhere - A partner only ever sees the scope you choose, and can never edit or re-share it IMPORTANT PearPetal is for personal tracking. Its predictions are estimates, not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a contraceptive method. Do not rely on them to prevent or achieve pregnancy. For medical questions, talk to a qualified healthcare professional. Open source. No vendor lock-in. Built by PeerLoom.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: PearPetal at Free against Tare's $6.99. PearPetal also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.4). Tare's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs fortnightly). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.
