YOUR APPS STAY LOCKED. YOU EARN YOUR WAY IN. Two minutes of reading, walking, or watching educational long form content earn one minute inside your distracting apps. That's the whole deal, and Brio never bends it. HOW IT WORKS Pick the apps and websites that distract you. Brio locks them and keeps them locked. When you want in, you earn it: READ — 40 classic books built in, from Marcus Aurelius to Jane Austen, stored on your device. Or import your own (PDF, EPUB, TXT). Minutes only count while pages actually turn. WATCH — Long-form video worth your attention. Start with Brio's curated shelves or paste any YouTube link. Time only counts while you're actually watching. Shorts are rejected outright. WALK — Tap Walk, pocket the phone, go outside. Your steps become minutes, counted by your iPhone's motion sensor, with a live card in the Dynamic Island. Then unlock: you earn 1 minute of screen time for every 2 minutes spent reading, walking, or watching. Use your earned time to unlock your apps. Change your mind after unlocking? Tap Lock Back In and every unused minute returns to your balance. No other blocker we've found does this. THE SHAPE OF A DAY A small daily minimum must be earned before your first unlock. At 4 a.m. everything resets and the day starts clean. Meet the minimum day after day and your streak grows. WHO IT'S FOR Students. Developers. Anyone with ADHD. Anyone fighting doomscrolling, brain rot, or a dopamine cycle they can't break on willpower alone. Anyone who tried to use their phone less and failed because there was nothing to do when it went dark. Thought
Read full descriptionHide full description
Thought is a place to pour your mind out — and get it back. A stray idea. The name of a café. A photo of a book cover. The list of things to do when you get home. Type it, photograph it, record it, or paste a link. Thought saves it the moment it happens. Then ask. “Where was that café in Kyoto?” “What was I going to do when I got home?” Ask searches what you saved and answers with your own memory. Capture in a breath Text, photos, voice notes, places, and links. Paste a URL and Thought pulls the card. Record audio and it becomes text. Write #like this and it becomes a filter. Everything on one board Your notes pile into a scrapbook you can wander back through. Drag them, reopen them, search them. There’s a day-by-day list, tags, an archive — and a title on every note, so the important line is the one you see first. Ask your memory Ask answers from what you wrote, said, and saved. On your device, with Apple Intelligence, it’s free forever. Nothing invented: only what you left behind. Thought Pro Cloud AI that can see your photos, text read from pictures, and Thought on the web — the same account, the same board. On-device Thought stays free for everyone. Thought Pro renews automatically until canceled in your App Store settings. Manage or cancel in Settings → Subscriptions. Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Thought at none against Brio's shown. Thought also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brio sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Thought sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Brio ships an update every 3 weeks, Thought every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
