APX is an AI trainer for the gym and for home. It builds a program around your goal and your equipment, logs every set, and suggests a swap when the machine you need is taken. Nutrition alongside your workouts Photograph a meal, describe it in words or scan a barcode to add it to your food diary and get an estimate of calories, protein, fat and carbs. Track your personalized calorie and macro targets, log water and review your food history. When activity tracking is enabled, your calorie target takes your workouts into account. A program you do not have to invent Answer a few questions about yourself and the AI builds a program around your goal, your experience and the equipment you can reach. Ready made programs are put together by working strength coaches. Prefer your own, build a workout by hand in a minute and save it to your plan. AI trainer in chat Ask how an exercise is done properly, what to use instead of a busy machine, how long to rest between sets. It answers in plain language, without lectures, and remembers what you talked about before. Gym or home, you decide Choose where you train: a full gym, home with equipment, or home with no equipment at all. Exercises are picked for what you actually have at hand, whether that is a barbell and machines or your own body weight. A set log in two taps Weight, reps and sets are written down during the workout, without extra screens. The rest timer starts by itself and rings when it is time for the next set. Your history is kept in full, so you see your working weights instead of trying to recall them. Exercises with technique Every exercise comes with a description and a demonstration: which muscles work, how to hold your back, where a beginner should start. Apple Watch and Live Activity Run the workout from your wrist: sets, heart rate zones, calories burned. On iPhone the rest timer lives on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and the next set is logged from there without unlocking the phone. Progress you can see Strength numbers for each exercise, body weight, ten body measurements, and before and after photos side by side on one screen. Workouts go to Apple Health if you allow it. How to start 1. Tell us about yourself: goal, experience, where you train, how much time you have. A couple of minutes. 2. Get a program built for you. 3. Train and log your sets. The history builds itself. Who it is for For those who go to the gym and are tired of keeping sets in a notes app. For those coming back after a break who do not want to guess at a program. For those who train at home and want structure instead of a random pile of exercises. Subscription and payment Extended APX features are available by subscription. Prices are shown in the app before purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. You can manage the subscription and turn off auto renewal in your Apple ID settings. Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Method at 5.0 against APX's 4.2. Method also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs fortnightly). APX's advantage is ratings volume (12 vs 1) and iOS requirement (18.4 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Method sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and APX sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Method holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: APX has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Method ships an update every 5 days, APX fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
