You choose what disappears while the useful parts of each site stay available. On iPhone and iPad, optional Real-time Blocking (Beta) can also detect YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels or Stories inside the native apps. Analysis happens on your device with Core ML. WHAT YOU CAN BLOCK IN SAFARI - YouTube Shorts — tabs, shelves, entries, and Shorts URLs - Instagram Reels — plus optional limits for Home, Explore, Stories, and additional Reels surfaces - Facebook Reels and Watch — plus an optional Home feed limit - X — Explore and trending surfaces - TikTok — the entire site Every supported service can also be blocked completely. Each site has its own mode picker, so you stay in control. Turn a mode off whenever you want — unless you deliberately enable Strict mode. STRICT MODE Strict mode locks your blocking choices for 24 hours. It survives restarts and force-quits, so a moment of temptation can't undo the decision you made for yourself. HOW IT WORKS For Safari: 1. Install and open Slowth. 2. Enable Slowth in Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions. 3. Choose a mode for each supported site in the Slowth app. 4. Browse normally. Slowth hides or redirects the surfaces you blocked. For Real-time Blocking (Beta) on iPhone and iPad: 1. Allow Screen Time access and choose the YouTube or Instagram app. 2. Select Shorts, Reels, or Stories. 3. Start Slowth Realtime Shield from the recording card. Regular app screens remain available while Slowth monitors locally. If selected content is detected, iOS shows the Screen Time shield. The standard red recording indicator remains visible while monitoring is active. No Slowth account or login is required. YOUR ATTENTION IS THE PRODUCT Every second spent scrolling can be sold to an advertiser. The platforms may feel free, but attention is the currency. Slowth steps between you and the part of the feed designed to keep you there. PRIVACY Slowth has no analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking, accounts, or developer-operated backend. We can't see what you browse or block. Settings and cached rules stay in the app's local container. The Safari extension periodically checks a public rules file on GitHub Gist so site fixes can arrive without an app update. No browsing history or page content is sent with that request. Real-time Blocking analyzes screen frames locally. Frames are not uploaded or saved during normal use. The bundled Core ML model and weights are licensed under GPLv3.
