Know the tempo of what's playing. And its name. MagicBPM listens through your iPhone's microphone and measures the BPM (beats per minute) of whatever's playing, in real time. Point it at a speaker, an instrument, or a record, and watch the tempo lock in. Tap Identify song and Apple's music recognition puts a name to the track. When you need to keep time yourself, switch to the built-in metronome, on the phone or on your wrist. FIND THE TEMPO • Live BPM detection: a dual-engine detector (autocorrelation + onset peak-picking) tuned for music with a steady beat, with an indicator for when it is solid. • Half and double tempo: some songs can be felt two ways. Flip the reading to half or double time with one tap under the number, and MagicBPM hints which is likelier. • Live tempogram: a scrolling heatmap of tempo over time. See the beat strengthen, drift or shift between sections at a glance. • Tap tempo: nothing playing? Tap along and MagicBPM averages your taps into a steady BPM. • Dial it in: set a tempo range, pick a detection engine, and tune the noise gate to match your room. NAME THE SONG • Tap Identify song while you listen and MagicBPM names what's playing, powered by Apple's music recognition. • See the title, artist, and cover art right next to the live BPM, and open the song in Apple Music with a tap. KEEP THE BEAT • Built-in metronome: set a tempo by tapping, typing, or nudging it ±1, then press play for a rock-steady click. Eight time signatures with an accented downbeat, and it keeps playing even with the ringer on silent. • Keeps going in your pocket: the click carries on when you leave the app or lock the screen, and a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island starts it, stops it, and nudges the tempo without unlocking. • Subdivisions: practice against eighths, triplets, or sixteenths, with the in-between clicks pitched under the beat so you never lose the pulse. Free for everyone. • Compound time that counts properly: 6/8, 9/8 and 12/8 group in threes, and 7/8 lets you pick 2+2+3 or 3+2+2. • Vibrate on beat: feel every tick as a haptic tap, with a firmer pulse on the downbeat. ON YOUR WRIST • Apple Watch metronome: every beat is a tap you feel, not a click the room hears, so it works on a loud stage and in a quiet house alike. Set the tempo by tapping the number in time or turning the Digital Crown, then drop your wrist and it keeps tapping. Included free with the iPhone app. FREE, WITH AN OPTIONAL PRO UPGRADE MagicBPM is free and supported by ads. MagicBPM Pro is a single one-time purchase. No subscription, ever. Pro adds: • Live song detection: songs are identified automatically as they play. Hands-free, no tapping. • Detected Songs history: every song you identify is saved on your iPhone with its BPM and artwork. Pro unlocks the list and opens any track in Apple Music. • Twelve metronome sounds: woodblock, claves, cowbell, hi-hat, shaker, triangle and more, alongside the standard acoustic click. Preview any of them before you buy. • Ad-free: removes every ad from the app. Restore your purchase anytime on any device signed in to your Apple Account. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Tempo detection happens entirely on your iPhone. Your microphone audio is analyzed in real time and discarded. It is never recorded or uploaded. • Song identification, when you use it, sends a compact acoustic fingerprint of the sound, never the audio itself, to Apple's Shazam service to name the track. • Songs you identify are saved to your Detected Songs history on your iPhone and nowhere else. You can clear the list at any time, Pro or not. • Anonymous usage and crash reports tell us which features get used and which devices struggle to hear a beat. They never include your audio or the songs you play, and Share usage data in Settings turns them off. • No account, no sign-in. Questions or feedback? Email support@magicbpm.com.

About

TempoKey

Features

Know every song's tempo before you walk on stage. TempoKey analyzes an audio file you already own and returns its BPM in seconds — and it always shows two readings, the primary tempo and its half-time or double-time alternative, because that ambiguity is real in almost every library. You choose the one that matches how you count the song. From there it goes straight into a setlist you can reorder, annotate, and read from the stage. WHAT'S INSIDE • Automatic BPM analysis — Import a local audio file through the Files picker or drag and drop, and an on-device engine returns the tempo: Apple's Music Understanding framework on iOS 27, or the built-in DSP engine on earlier systems. Your audio is never uploaded or copied — it stays on your phone. • Dual reading, by design — Every result shows a primary BPM next to its half-time or double-time alternative, for example "87 · or 174". One tap swaps them, and you can type a value in by hand when you disagree with both. • Song Map and auto key on iOS 27 — See the song's structure at a glance: sections, bar grid, where vocals, drums and bass enter, and overall loudness. The detected key is shown with an honest alternate reading; a key you type yourself always takes priority. On earlier systems the key field is typed in by you. • Tap tempo — Tap along four or more times and watch the tempo settle live. Made for rehearsal rooms, live counts, and anything you cannot import as a file. • Setlist library — Build ordered setlists with song title, BPM, a musical key, and your own notes. Drag to reorder until the running order is right. • Home screen widgets — An extra-large widget shows the next song in your setlist with tempo and key, readable from across the stage (iOS 27; medium size on earlier systems). • Performance Mode — A large-type card built for a dark stage: title, tempo and key readable at a glance, swipe left and right to move through the set, screen stays awake. • Transpose and tempo math — Capo and semitone transposition, BPM to milliseconds for delay and echo, and 75% / 50% practice-speed references. Pure arithmetic, no audio processing. • Spotlight and Siri — Your songs and setlists are searchable from the system search and openable by Siri (iOS 18.4 or later). • Works offline — No account, no sign-in, no cloud sync, no ads. WHAT TEMPOKEY IS NOT • Not a metronome. The app makes no sound at all. • Not a player. There is no playback, no now-playing screen, no media library browsing. • Not a tuner, not a notation app, not an audio editor. • No subscription, no advertising, no account. FILE SUPPORT Local, DRM-free audio only — MP3, WAV, M4A, AIFF and FLAC, imported from Files or dropped in. DRM-protected downloads cannot be analyzed, and the app says so plainly instead of failing quietly. Tempo detection covers 50–210 BPM; outside that range you get an explicit message rather than a wrong number. PRIVACY Your audio is decoded in memory for the length of the analysis and then released. TempoKey never copies, caches or uploads a file. Only the results — tempo, alternative reading, confidence, file name and duration — along with your setlists and notes are stored on the device. The app requests no microphone, no media library, no location, no contacts and no photos. PAY ONCE TempoKey opens and works without a purchase: tap tempo and every calculator are always free, and so are your first three analyses and one setlist of up to five songs. A single Lifetime unlock removes the limits — unlimited analyses, unlimited setlists and songs, and Performance Mode. One payment, no subscription. Built for the ten minutes before you go on.
